Maroma Hotel Guide

When the blue-green waters of the Mayan Riviera beckon, flights to Cancun take you to pristine white beaches where your cares will melt away. Maroma, a privately owned beach, is located in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo along the southeastern coast of the Caribbean Sea. Checking into hotel rooms near Maroma will soon have you sipping pina coladas in the sand under colorful umbrellas.

Maroma

Cheap hotels close to Maroma Beach are located along highway 307 and the beach. There are no hotels on the actual beach since the land between the highway and the beach used to be mainly jungle—the only access was from the sea. This makes Punta Maroma a pristine environment and it's voted among the top 10 beaches in the world. You can gain access to the beach by one of the private resort entrances for a breathtaking experience.

Exploring Quintana Roo

Hotels by Maroma are typically in Playa del Carmen, and there is more to do here than you can imagine. Take the whole family swimming with dolphins; tour ancient Mayan ruins; or enjoy coral reefs, a butterfly garden, or aviary. Go zip-lining in the jungle or shop along Fifth Avenue for local arts and crafts. Take a 45-minute ferry across the sea to Cozumel Island and visit Chankanaab National Park to see different varieties of tropical fish. In the main neighborhood of San Miguel, you can find live music and black bean soup with fish tacos to fill your stomach. Burn off any vacation calories by heading north to Cancun, where you can dance the night away in a swanky resort nightclub or a beach cabana.

When considering Maroma vacation packages, remember that you can save up to $537 when you book a hotel and flight at the same time through Travelocity. Relax on the beach and enjoy your Mayan Riviera getaway!

"We loved the all inclusive resort. The staff was amazing, The food was outstanding. The chefs were fantastic. Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff was very responsive to special requests. It was a perfect layout to just relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. We upgraded to the Priveledged package upon arrival, and the upgrade was worth every cent. This added access to all the restaurants and the private beach with drink service. The only negatives were initial "offers" for gifts and side trips if we would listen to sales pitches, but I was advised this is typical in the region. It wasn't offensive, and after several rejections, it trailed off. There were a couple minor maintenance issues, but they were handled immediately. Another minor inconvenience was the lack of a resort shuttle service. If we wanted to do any sightseeing we needed to hire a shuttle. I assume the higher-priced resorts would include this service. But since we weren't planning on significant sightseeing, it wasn't an issue. Overall I would rate Catalonia Playa Maroma at 4.5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend this resort to those wanting to relax and unwind."

"Clean and nice resort! We liked it. Recommend to stay here if you’re planing. The only thing that you should be aware of as of today is undergoing construction, but it’s not that bad as some people say. Food: excellent (for a resort it’s actually good, but it’s not your fancy food from your favorite restaurant, but it’s definitely taste good, no problem with that at all, plenty of options) Rooms: they clean it good, and everything works had no issues with that. Pool: bring pool shoes, it’s definitely 2 out of 5, they need to remodel/restore it, because oh man it’s scratchy and dirty (mostly sand from the beach, and dead bugs). But water activities are fun and they like every hour or so, it was fun playing pool volleyball. Ocean: as of October 26 it had a lot of seagrass and dirty, NOT swimmable. They were cleaning it regularly every day, but nature is nature what can you do! So if you go here for beach it’s definitely NOT THE BEST TIME TO GO. Stuff: excellent, just excellent, no need for more comments. Thank you everyone. Spa: it’s all right, on my opinion it’s not worth it, also it’s too expensive. Anyways, we liked it, even thought there was construction, seagrass and not the best pools. That’s your main concerns before you book it. Thank you everyone who made it feel special, it was good vacation."
