Riu palace exceeded my expectations in most areas. Loved the service. Landscape shows and food. What I did not like was the bathroom being exposed. If I got up earlier than my husband I had no choice but to disturb him when I used the faucet to wash up. The thermostat in room was broken room was always too cold. I paid for a room with ocean view it was obstructed. The Manager did offer to change my room the next day. Did not care for the buffet. Food could be improved. Sit down dinners were great. Desserts could be better. Lacked flavor and freshness. The staff were wonderful. Blanket in room needs to be upgraded. Very thin. Thank you to the team in Krystal’s restaurant who made me feel special on my birthday. Wonderful hardworking friendly staff! Otherwise, very enjoyable stay. Thank you

I liked the abundance of dining options but the quality of the food itself was quite bad, wasn’t expecting Michelin Star food but was certainly hoping for more than cafeteria quality for the price paid. Me and my fiancé didn’t enjoy anything we ate as positive as we tried to be. Everything would first appear delicious and would be well presented but everything fell far short of expectations. The alcohol was also abundant but cheap and watered down, had to take four times the usual amount. Will definitely not be returning to a Riu Hotel and will save more for a “better” hotel even if more expensive, in hopes of a better dining/overall experience.

Everything about the resort was excellent. Plenty of chairs at the beach. The food & service was excellent. The resort is in a very safe area. We walked into town everyday.

The Staff is very selective

The staff is very selective to provide a good service to you. If you don't look American (Caucasian), do not expect a good service, even though you are American! Wors thing! I mentioned something to this lady Lupita! at the front desk when I was doing the check out, and she just say: Oh, I didn't know that. That was it!

Do NOT stay in this hotel and do NOT book through Expedia. The hotel room and facilities are not bad, but the cancellation experience is horrible! I made cancellation for two people out of a 10 ppl group in time (within Expedia required date). However, after 15 days, after our trip and after spending hours and hours with 10 different Expedia agents on the line, I am still not getting my refund.
