Unfriendly Staff that acted inconvenienced anytime we asked for anything. Service was insanely slow. We booked privilege level and at our very first restaurant we were told told that some drinks had an up charge. Several bars we were at told us they wouldn’t give us upgraded alcohol even though it was sitting right there. Our A/C didn’t work well or keep the room very cool. One of the legs on one bed was completely broke off.

Our stay here was pleasant and relaxing for the most part. It's a smaller resort with everything within a 10 minute walk. The resort is clean and the staff friendly. Our experience at the Japanese restaurant left us very unhappy. The waiter offered a variety of beverages to choose from. We were never told that there would be an additional cost for our selection. At the end of the meal we were advised that the one can of beer and one really small bottle of wine cost $50. Others at our table had the same issue. Our complaints to the resort were futile. Sadly, because of this incident and the resort's indifference, our first visit will most likely be our last.

My room was awesome with great garden views (most villas looked at another villa). My room was large, and uniquely shaped. I had a window on one wall and patio doors on another so didn’t feel like I was in a typical rectangle shaped room with only patio doors. The ‘French’ restaurant was very good. The buffet restaurant had a good and varied selection. The evening entertainment was ok, the day entertainment was good. The resort was pretty as not overshadowed by high rise hotel units - all villas were only 2 stories tall. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

We wanted a quick warm getaway and decided to book an adults only all inclusive at the Ocean Maya Royal. We found the rooms to be quite comfortable. The food was very good, staff polite, and friendly. The pools were always kept clean. The beach near the water sports area was quite beautiful and clean. Our only complaint would be the beach in the privilege area was very dirty. Signs were up, saying that they were leaving the seaweed to rebuild their beachwhich we totally understand, but there was so much garbage in the seaweed that swimming was not something you wanted to attempt. We did upgrade to the privilege selection which we enjoyed, but probably is not necessary in order to have a really good experience. This was our 15th visit to Mexico and we would definitely consider returning to this resort.

Warning for people who want to spend money at 5-Star Hotel. Stay away from this hotel!!! We had such a bad experience there, our vocation was ruined(( This hotel is about 2-3-Stars, no more. We compare everything with our last time at 5-Star in Mexico, not a single bad word about just delights and amazing memories! We really trusted good reviews making our choice how we do always, but now I have fillings review about this place are fake. Food was terrible, lots are not fresh, mixed from previous breakfast or lunch. We got horrible food poisoning with throwing and temperature. They said rooms were renovated but property feels old, nothing luxury at all. Restaurants and buffet remind us of property from our childhood (long time ago). Beach area looks poor as well. To use cabins (beds) you should have privilege package that is so ridiculous since last time at 5-Star All-inclusive we shouldn't pay some extra. There are not enough room in shade under the canopy on a beach. Staff's outfit doesn't look like at luxury place. Customer service wasn't good, we could seat long time in buffet and nobody came. Several of the staff just barely speak and understand English making difficulties with food ordering. We met couple families there who have same fillings about that place and were in shock how much money they paid for that!!! We are so regret about making decision to spend our time and money at this place, would rather to go to that amazing hotel we were last year.

We had a great time at Ocean Maya! Staff were all friendly and great cocktails! Restaurants were also decent (my favourite was the Hibachi) Most importantly, the entertainment/activities throughout the day was so much fun and there was always something to do! Kendall made such a difference in our trip with his amazing personality, humour and energy. Looking forward to coming back sometime.

Viri gets 5 *!!! I had the privilege of her as a guide 3 times!😄 Kenndel was also great at the pool. And Rafael at the front was very nice and helpful! The music was WAY too loud at the pool, and the techno music went on for hours. All service staff were great! There were a few incidents of unruly guests and no one did anything about them (at the buffet). But my stay was pleasant, all in all.

Pro’s: it is a small resort easy to get around. They did a great job getting people involved with all the pool activities. they have the best Mojito’s. The food was just OK however I did not go hungry. They have professional photographers you can set up a photo shoot with them or just get a couple pictures around the pool or beach area. A little pricey, but they turned out great. On a side-note, they do have the best air conditioners in our room. The staff was friendly, especially Kendall with the entertainment team. they have a lot of activities throughout the entire day. they did not hassle us about a timeshare. Con’s: they seem to be shortstaffed, especially at the buffet, would frequently run out of food and had to wait for them to replenish. I didn’t like the fact that you had to be privileged to get top-tier alcohol. If you’re a smoker, they only had one smoking area far from the pool area. Suggestions: have more food around the pool area for lunch,like a taco truck/ stand. Overall: the resort is reasonably priced and we had a wonderful six night stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would definitely go back.
