We recently stayed at the Royalton Riviera Cancún and had a mix of experiences during our visit. On the positive side, we really enjoyed the Encore swim-up bar—Javier and Carlos were absolutely fantastic and made our time there even more enjoyable with their friendly service and great drinks. A big shoutout as well to Miguel, who made our omelettes most mornings at the buffet—he was always kind, efficient, and a great start to the day.
Unfortunately, the rest of our stay didn’t quite live up to expectations. We were constantly approached by staff trying to upsell extras, and guest services even attempted to sell us a timeshare, which really took away from the relaxing vacation vibe we were hoping for. Additionally, it was surprisingly difficult to make dinner reservations, and there were times when finding food felt like a challenge, which shouldn’t be the case at an all-inclusive resort.
All in all, the service from a few standout staff members made our trip better, but the overall experience was underwhelming and fell short of what we expected.
