There are no hotels on the actual beach since the land between the highway and the beach used to be mainly jungle—the only access was from the sea. Take a 45-minute ferry across the sea to Cozumel Island and visit Chankanaab National Park to see different varieties of tropical fish. In the main neighborhood of San Miguel, you can find live music and black bean soup with fish tacos to fill your stomach. Burn off any vacation calories by heading north to Cancun, where you can dance the night away in a swanky resort nightclub or a beach cabana.

"There is so much to say about our family vacation—7 days and 6 nights! The food and restaurant were top-notch—absolutely no complaints there. However, the pool had no filtration; the water was yellow and reeked. All our swimsuits ended up in the trash—they were stained and impossible to wash clean. The area around the pool was extremely slippery; many people fell, myself included! Children even suffered bloody head injuries from falling. The shoreline was filthy—you couldn't even get into the water! The whole beach was covered in seaweed and smelled terrible. I wouldn't come back here again! It looks amazing in the photos, but that’s far from the reality. The kids' area is tiny, and there is absolutely nothing here for teenagers! We were very dissatisfied!!!"

"Exceptional Stay at Excellence Riviera!! Our stay at Excellence Riviera Cancun was truly outstanding. The resort is beautifully maintained, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the staff consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The food was exceptional throughout the resort, but a few venues stood out in particular. “Chez Isabelle” offered an outstanding fine-dining experience for dinner, while “The Lobster House” was fantastic for both lunch and dinner, serving fresh and delicious seafood in a beautiful setting. “Las Olas” became one of our favourite spots for casual snacks and light meals by the beach. We also loved “Aroma”- our favourite coffee & pastry & best ice cream place to go. The pools were fantastic, providing plenty of space to relax, and the grounds were lush, peaceful, and impeccably cared for. The overall atmosphere was elegant, relaxing, and perfect for a couples’ getaway. One important note for future travellers: if swimming in the ocean is a priority, void March-October seaweed season. Excellence Riviera Cancun exceeded our expectations in every other way with its exceptional dining, beautiful pools, well-maintained grounds, and outstanding service. We would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing all-inclusive vacation in Cancun. 🌴☀️🍹✨ Cheers ☀️"
