Maroma, a privately owned beach, is located in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo along the southeastern coast of the Caribbean Sea. There are no hotels on the actual beach since the land between the highway and the beach used to be mainly jungle—the only access was from the sea. In the main neighborhood of San Miguel, you can find live music and black bean soup with fish tacos to fill your stomach. Burn off any vacation calories by heading north to Cancun, where you can dance the night away in a swanky resort nightclub or a beach cabana.

"The staff were amazing! Unlike some resorts we have stayed at in the past, they were friendly, helpful, and seemed genuinely glad to be there. We loved the resort property, and amenities, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I have mobility challenges, but the resort was wheelchair friendly, and we were able to participate in every thing we wanted to do. Our only "obstacle" was we did not get to eat at Basmati due to there being stairs to get in, but we didn't worry about it. I have no doubt that the staff would have made a way to accommodate us if we had asked. We had a great week!"

"Our stay was a perfect relaxing getaway. The only two negatives - the shows were kind of boring, just people singing in the lobby. We stayed previously and they had great shows with dancing and very entertaining. And the buffet food was mediocre"

"Just got back from a week long stay in Royal section of the Occidental. Cynthia at the concierge upgraded our room at no charge helped us find the best view possible and was extremely attentive to anything we asked. All of the staff was extremely efficient, friendly and helpful. Room service always arrived in 20 minutes, a nice man provided chocolate pillow turn down service every night. Ricardo at the Royal Restaurant provided excellent service. We tried nearly every restaurant had no problems making a reservation every day. Went on multiple excursions at Francisco’s recommendations. Really there was not a single staff member that was disappointing. Grounds are beautiful and well kept, would definitely recommend and visit again soon!!"
