Maroma, a privately owned beach, is located in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo along the southeastern coast of the Caribbean Sea. There are no hotels on the actual beach since the land between the highway and the beach used to be mainly jungle—the only access was from the sea. Take a 45-minute ferry across the sea to Cozumel Island and visit Chankanaab National Park to see different varieties of tropical fish. In the main neighborhood of San Miguel, you can find live music and black bean soup with fish tacos to fill your stomach. Burn off any vacation calories by heading north to Cancun, where you can dance the night away in a swanky resort nightclub or a beach cabana.

"Stayed at Sunrise and Grand, both have excellent and courteous staff. Lots of amenities that you can spend several days in the resort without getting bored. Excellent Food quality. Only thing that turned me off is the cleanliness, we checked in and the counters and tables look un-sanitized, there are glass ring marks and some parts are sticky that I have to clean it again. We have a big group and everyone of us noticed that Checking in took too long compared to other hotels considering they are a luxury resort we are expecting that checking in would be faster."

"Resort is gorgeous but the food was not the best. We have been at the property for 4 days and we were tired from food on day one. We went to steak and mexican restaurants which were not great either. We feel as we had better Mexican food in the USA. Also, my boyfriend and I got food poisoning. He is still recovering three days later. Even though the food was not great the resort was nice. We enjoyed pools, animals, ocean and nature. We also loved that it is very close to Xcaret. I just wish they would not serve food that could make us sick."

"The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was only because of the bar and staffing of the bar. It took a while to get service because sometimes there was only one bartender. 1 bartender at an all inclusive resort?!? Andddd they don’t open the bar until 11am. Yikes. I was recognized as an Expedia VIP member and Andrea was gracious enough to find an upgraded room for me! I checked in really late, after 9pm. My room and view was wonderful!!! I did pay for a cabana rental and I was pleasantly surprised that you get a bottle of premium liquor- we chose Don Julio. But again service was sooooo slow because of limited servers. These things DID NOT EFFECT MY RATING BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THEIR CONTROL- raccoons are the resort pets! The seaweed was AWFUL to look at and worse- SMELL. I enjoyed the food options. But I was never tipsy any of the 3 days I was there! Everything really seems to be watered down or even a simple margarita didn’t taste right. We walked off the property at night to party and it’s close!!! I always felt safe and I’m not the type to go back to a resort but I would definitely come back!!!!!"

"We really enjoyed our trip overall. Food was good and people were friendly. I did notice some cracks around the edges, so to speak. We noticed the last night they only put a top sheet over the bed, not an actual cover. We asked for certain things in the mini-fridge (which they encouraged) but it wasn't fulfilled. And 5/6 restaurants we tried I really enjoyed the food. I don't recommend the Italian as it was really dry bread and over salted food. Some disappointing things, but mostly a great stay."
