"Traveler beware: if you book a Privilege suite at Catalonia Gran Costa Mujeres, confirm what you’re getting. We paid for an upgraded room with a separate bedroom and living area, but were given a standard room facing the noisy main pool. When we questioned it, staff initially denied such rooms even existed instead of owning their mistake. Only after showing proof of our booking did they finally move us to the correct room in a quieter area. The resort itself is clean and pleasant, but service is inconsistent and communication poor. We tried to coordinate nearby rooms with friends arriving later and kept being told to “check back,” only to be offered an upgrade for an extra $600. Food was very average, and my husband ended up with food poisoning on the last day. The beach is lovely, but by 8 a.m., most shaded chairs are “reserved” despite rules against it. The kids’ club is also misleading—hours are limited, and only ten kids can attend unattended at once, which makes little sense for a family resort. Even the coffee shop, though a nice touch, involved 30–45 minute waits each morning. While some staff were friendly, the overall lack of accountability and inconsistent service made the experience fall short for the price. Glad they fixed our room issue, but we don’t see ourselves booking another stay. "

"Our room had an ocean view with everything you need. The entertainment staff (Mario, Maria, Victor, Axel and Janet) along with the DJ did a fantastic job to get people involved in activities. Guest service was very helpful and attentive to our needs. Shout out to Christopher, Joel, Victor and Nataly to make us feel special. We loved playing pickleball every morning (court space could be a bit bigger) but still nice courts. "
