Amazing trip, rooms were clean and staff was extremely friendly. Dining options were minimal but with 3 kids the room service and buffet option was all we needed. We were never once asked about time shares which I read on other reviews. Kids really enjoyed the kids club. It’s a smaller property which is great with kids, we weren’t ready to leave.

The facility was very clean, super conveniently located to the beach, the food was AMAZING!! The staff and other vacationers were so friendly and we absolutely loved it there. The staff at the LaPlaya restaurant, especially William Hech, the manager and our most favorite server of all, Hector, went above and beyond to accommodate every possible need a guest could have wanted. We realized after we got there, that this was a more of a low-key quiet resort and I couldn’t help but pat myself on the back, lol. Even the children were so well behaved, I found it impressive. There were no hidden cost or fees and this was the first resort I have ever been to that looked exactly like the pictures, even better actually. Unfortunately, on day, 3/6 of our vacation, my sister fell and broke her arm, which really put a damper on the rest of our time here. However, it was of no fault of the resort or anybody associated with the resort, and we still did our best to have a good time. The only negative thing I can say, and I am 100% at fault for this, is I got scammed on the beach believing I was buying real silver jewelry, ugh!!! Tequila does more than make your clothes fall off, lol. When we first got there, the contact that they give you for your entire stay to help with anything or any questions you may have, was amazing as well. His name was Antonio and he went above and beyond for us as well. ZERO REGRETS, AMAZING FACILITY!

The Royal Cancun exceeded our expectations from cleanliness to the food to the service. The resort in its entirety was beautiful and well kept, food was delicious with plenty of options, staff was amazing and never hesitated to help when asked. We visited with our kids ages 6-18, and they all had a wonderful time! Highly recommend!

The rooms were spotless and always clean! The Royal Cancun is definitely smaller than the Haciendas or the Sands, however you can shuttle to the Sands and enjoy their amenities and beach which was lovely! We enjoyed snorkeling off the beach at Royal Cancun! But the beach was much nicer at the Sands and one day we got super calm water at the Sands as well! La Trattoria was very good !

This place is great. Food is great, rooms are clean and up to date, property grounds are well kept and it’s quiet. Great for our family of five. If wanting more action, head to the royal sands and checkout an entirely different experience with the beach to larger property grounds. The water park is also a nice addition. We like to explore different areas and countries, but it will be hard not to come back to this place on our next trip. All staff were exceptional as well.

The unacceptable noise conditions during my recent stay at your hotel made it impossible to properly rest and seriously undermined the purpose of my booking. My room was directly exposed to heavy traffic running in front of the windows. Throughout the entire night, loud motorbikes—particularly high-speed motorcycles—passed continuously, producing sharp, resonant noise that echoed throughout the building. The situation was exacerbated by the hotel’s layout: the room faced interior corridors that amplified and prolonged the sound, effectively turning the space into an echo chamber. Sleep was repeatedly disrupted, and sustained rest was impossible. The disturbance did not end at night. Constant daytime and nighttime traffic from buses and heavy trucks generated ongoing noise and vibrations, indicating insufficient soundproofing for a hotel that claims to offer comfort and rest. I reported this issue to reception on two separate occasions. On both occasions, I was told that it was either too late or too early to find a solution. This response was particularly frustrating, as the noise did not pause depending on the hour, and no alternative room or mitigation was offered. These conditions fall well below reasonable expectations for a hotel stay.

Kids rate 9/10! **CONS:** **Food Quality - Major Issue:** Consistently mediocre across all restaurants - buffet, La Trattoria, Royal Sands. Looks nice, tastes bland. For context: We recently cruised Alaska on Princess with exceptional dining. This resort cost significantly more but delivered far worse food quality. We ate off-resort most nights just to have satisfying meals. **If food matters, book elsewhere.** **Service Issues:** Wildly inconsistent. Royal Market staff were rude to our children - unacceptable at family resort. **Timeshare Pressure:** Aggressive 2-hour sales pitch for expensive packages. High-pressure tactics, multiple salespeople. Concierge admitted earning commission. Prepare to decline firmly and repeatedly. **BOTTOM LINE:** Kids loved it. Parents disappointed given the premium pricing. **Would we rebook?** No - returning to cruises for better value. **Tips:** Set LOW food expectations, budget for off-resort dining, decline timeshare presentations firmly, bring Vaseline for kids' sand chafing. Adequate resort that doesn't justify its peak season rates.
