We had a great time. We weren’t impressed with the buffet but very much enjoyed the speciality restaurants. We took an uber to La Isla good shopping and the casino was fun too.

This hotel does not work with Expedia. Despite their website stating that they offer a shuttle service, they do not do so for Expedia. They also state that they are a five minute walk from a mall, they are not. They do have a “mall” across the street from the hotel, however it is a souvenir shop that is literally falling apart. The actual mall is a 15 min car ride away from the hotel. The food at the hotel are awful and their lunch options are hotdogs or hamburgers or fajita meat. They don’t respond to any emails and they don’t offer a map of the property. They are not helpful at all if you need any assistance with locations or any information about the property.

The music was loud. We didn’t participate with any activities but they were entertaining. The beach area was nice. Nice big buffet. The room was far from plush but we spent most time in the sun so no big deal.

Our stay was just okay, this is my third time back here and the properties overall appeal definitely has decreased. During check in, they failed to hand out welcome beverages to all guests, which is okay but for the price we paid plus our previous experiences it was clear the staffing was short compared to year over year. Food options were limited, most restaurants don’t open until 4 and the buffet couldn’t keep up with the weekend demand. Housekeeping did a good job the first two days but took a turn towards the end of our stay. The staff works very hard but there clearly is a shortage of labor. You couldn’t get any service on the beach or pool chairs from Monday- Thursday and it would be nice if they had room service food delivery to keep the volume of the Buffet under control. Not the best experience with Riu and probably will consider other 5 star resorts in the area instead.
