Pros: best food & drinks, convient to get around, & activities.
Cons: Every think I can imagine has already been implimented here, Even the noon check out. You would not believe me if I described how good the food is.
Location: So mush sightseeing, parks, activities, night life, & things to do that I will be comming back for many years.
When reading reviews, I used to think that most complaints are pety. Like the drinks did not have much achohol, noisy, food was not good enough, & not enough food at the buffet. Well I have found that these reviews should not be overlooked. These hotels I stayed at with these reviews WERE lacking in many ways. The Riu Palas las Americas is the BEST of everything! The food was the best I have had anywhere. All of the little common anoyances and issues I run across and have to pay to upgrade this and that, well thats not the case here. I felt like royality at a palace. The drinks were amazing. Always available at all the bars. Coffie shop with pastries. Where is the catch, Price? No, it was no more expensive than the other places I go to and much less than the expensive places. People there said their travel agent recomended this hotel. and I can see why. Shopping across the street and beach out the back door. Very convient in every room, central locations and shape of resort and building mad everything accessable. many places require a lot of walking and RESERVATIONS for dinner. NOT here. Eat anywhere you want. I was not asked to see a time share. A M A Z I N G

5 star everything!!

We loved our stay at Riu Palace Las Americas. From the moment we set foot in the lobby to the moment we checked out nothing but amazing service, smiles and more amazing service. The facility is super clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making us feel like royalty the whole time. Front desk clerk Felix was awesome, security guard Delfino helped us out a lot. Our favorite bartenders Luis and Julian were amazing, they even remembered our favorite drinks. Definitely will be coming back next year!! Stay here you won't regret it!

Riu Palace is a must try!

Pros: The workers are what make this place so pleasant. We had great interactions with them as welcomed guests. The pools and bars are fun as well.
Cons: Possibly more restrooms by the pool areas.
Location: This hotel is in the "zona hotelera".. Where downtown is only 20 min away and you're in walking distance from the infamous Coco Bongo and then some.
Our 9 day stay couldn't have been better. There is always something going on that will keep you entertained. From beach/pool volleyball, open bar, live shows, to the nearby bars and club that are in the area. The hotel is always nice and clean. The workers are very attentive and pleasant. And of course the view to the beach is a must see. We are extremely satisfied and look forward to coming back! A special thanks to Felix who was very helpful during our entire stay and Alicia for making our breakfast just a little better every single morning!

Mildew and awful smell

The front desk staff were awful. Some of the waiters in the restaurants and bartenders were extremely accommodating. Overall the facility is nice but the bedrooms were horrible. We switched rooms three times trying to escape the foul odor and dampness. After the 3rd changed we just accepted that we couldn't escape the smell. The rooms were so damp that the floors and sheets were wet we saw mold in the room as well.

First Cancun Trip Ruined

We arrived at the "resort" and our room was not ready. We took the first available room and it was horribble. There was mold everywhere in the room and the room smelled as if it was watered damaged. We requested another room and was placed in a room that can be described as a little better but still sub-standard. The other people in our travel group had a similar situation so we just settled and decided to spend as little time in the room as humanly possible. The humidity inside the room was rediculous. Imagine sleeping in a swimming pool. My wife could not sleep at night. I am having significant respiratory issues and it is directly related to my stay. Will never choose Riu again.

Nice hotel but beach is limited

Pros: The lobby bar ambiance, the buffet restaurant, the food, and the service. All inclusive. Adults only....no kids running around acting silly.
Cons: For extensive beach walking, you simply have to stay somewhere else. The odor in the hallways.
Location: A Starbucks two blocks away (we have finally given up on Mexican coffee, regardless of the restaurant, in-room, or at the lobby coffee bar).
The hotel is very nice. We enjoyed the AC'd lobby as well as the lobby size (large) and staff who were quick to say hello and smile. The lobby bar was especially nice to sit and enjoy a cocktail, altho the premium liquor did not go all the way to the high end (for example, no Grey Goose or Ketel One). The food is very good to outstanding. We tried all 5 restaurants, and were happy with each - nice change of pace every night. The breakfast and lunch buffet was outstanding. Service was outstanding. As people who enjoy long beach walks, we were disappointed that the beach extended only 1/3 mile in one direction. To continue down the beach it was required to go out to the main street, down a few blocks, and sneak back thru another hotel. Then you have to reverse the track on the way back. The hallway of the floor we were on occasionally had the slight smell of a sewer, which did raise a yellow flag to us (I have seen other comments about this hotel reflecting this, with others calling it 'musty'). The maid service was outstanding and thorough.

Great vacation spot

Pros: Everything. The room was great (except for our balcony view but we had the cheapest room available). The pools, the restaurants, and the staff.
Cons: I would have prefer to see more shows that featured the Mexican culture. the shows were too Ameircan.
Location: We only went off the hotel once, we went across the street to do some shopping.
From the arrival the atmosphere was that of beauty and smiles. The hotel was so beautiful and the staff so friendly. The pools were great. For being all inclusive the food and drinks were pretty good. We especially enjoyed eating at the Japanese and Steak House. The inclusion of on the spot shows made it more enjoyable; eventhough, I would have preferred shows featuring the Mexican and Mayan cultures instead of American. We were glad we picked the Adults Only hotel. It was so nice not to have the pools and eating area overrun by loud kids.
