Very hot, doesn’t seem to have working AC. Lobby bar was filthy and staff was not friendly. Before we even took the elevator to our room, we went back to check in and requested a room next door at the RIU Palace. So glad we did as we heard unpleasant things about the RIU Caribe all week from others. Very happy we made the quick decision to switch properties!!

Great place, however,someone should have told us to schedule a covid test when we first checked in. We had to go off the resort and pay a fee to be tested. This was disappointing as it inconvenienced us and took away time from our vacation!

This was our 2nd time in Cancun, the hotel was nice from the outside and very clean. The bed was extremely hard, I struggled sleeping every night. The Pool is nice, there’s 3 which means there’s plenty of space for everyone. The entertainment was just ok, nothing extraordinary. Also, don’t expect top shelf liquor, they use the cheapest liquor possible. The main issue for me, I will say, the food is AWFUL. No matter which restaurant you try, the food is terrible. The only time I was able to eat in the hotel, was breakfast. I mean who can mess up scrambled eggs? But honestly, the worst resort food I have ever had. Other guests were asking around for recommendations for restaurants, so I knew I wasn’t the only one starving.

Do not be misled by the description on Travelocity. We chose a 'Deluxe Double Room, Ocean View" with 2 double beds. The only item correct is the ocean view, as the room was a single room and it had only one double bed. We went immediately to the front desk and they gave us another room. This one was still one room but it had 2 double beds, so why was it so hard not to give us that room in the first place. As for Deluxe, it was just basic. All the walls, the bed linen, and the furniture is white. We thought we were in a hospital. No bedside radio/alarm. Only one light halfway up the wall by the beds, so no bedside lamps. No coffee maker. The bathroom had two sinks but only one had a plug, which leaked of course. There was shampoo in the shower but no conditioner. No instructions on how to use the phone and just 'oper' for the zero, which you had to assume was the front desk, but no-one answered when we tried to call - we had to go down to the front desk with our question. No guide for the TV. There could find only three outlets in the room, and had issues charging our devices, as they failed to fully charge in the usual time. Because we had no alarm clock, we requested a wake-up call at 6am for our return to the airport, but did not get one, even though I saw the front desk person write it down on a list. Be aware that they have shows in the lobby later in the day that can go on to 11PM, so having a room close to the lobby is not for anyone who likes a quiet room.

The rooms were like prison cells. It had 4 cement walls, uncomfortable beds, and poor lighting. Our door was broken and we couldn’t get in our room. After spending 2 days with the maintenance guys, we were upgraded to a junior suite and it wasn’t any better. Food was horrible. The place was clean and everyone wore masks. The buffet areas should have had more COVID restrictions. On the plus side... the pools and beach on the property were awesome. Clean and fun.

Overall the stay was good. There was not enough food options And the air conditioning in ours and other guests didn’t keep up. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
