Very Clean! Friendly and Helpful staff!!!

Great choice of food and buffets! Lots of drink options! Not the best sandy beach area, but still would recommend this hotel!!!

Great vacation!

Delights: -Oceanfront suite -Outstanding service at most all interactions. Bar tenders, wait staff was excellent. An example, our room safe failed 5 minutes before we were supposed to meet the shuttle to xcaret. I called the front desk, and they had a technician there in less than 3 minutes. -Tipping is not expected, but I always had a stack of $1 bills and tipped as I saw fit -Fine coffee house with excellent service and coffee -No reservations needed for restaurants. -Entertainment staff does a wonderful job getting guests involved in activities. -The food!!! See Restaurants below… Disappointments: -Limited top shelf liquors. -A horrible selection of tequilas -Mixed drinks in general were average. The margaritas were frankly terrible. You expect more at a fine Mexican hotel. -Evening entertainment is mostly passive. You sit at the theatre to be entertained. The should mix it up with passive and participative. Restaurants: -There is limited seating at restaurants. Long lines or crazy waits if you don’t time it right. -The menus at the restaurants feature the same main ingredient, prepared to the specialty of the restaurant. E.g. Lamb • "Krystal" Fusion restaurant – Not recommended • Japanese restaurant – Did not visit • Italian restaurant – Not recommended • Mexican restaurant - Recommended • Grill and steakhouse – Did not visit • Buffet – Recommended We had most meals at the buffet. They food was fabulous, fresh, and beautiful.

Did not meet our expectations

This was our second time in Cancun. The last time we stayed at a different resort and we wanted to experience something different this time. We got to the hotel in the morning. The front desk staff that was helping us was not very friendly and did not tell us about the nightly entertainment that happens. We waited all day for our room and once we got our room there was water standing in the shower and no water bottles in our mini fridge. We called the front desk and someone finally came up about 20-30 mins later. We got no apology or anything. We tried all of the restaurants and the only place that we loved the food was the steak house. The buffet had the same food pretty much everyday. There was no drink service by the pool and we stayed in the villas and service there was pretty much nonexistent. We asked one of the guys that was walking by for drinks and he said he's off of work and kept walking. The water at the beach was not clean- a lot of seaweed. All in all we won't stay at this hotel again and definitely wouldn't recommend spending the extra $$ on the VIP villa because there's nothing really VIP about it.

Nice hotel. Has private beach.

Pros: Private jacuzzi tub in room was nice. All rooms appear to have an ocean view. Staff was amazing and they work hard to please.
Location: We went on two excursions, one to Chichen Itza which I would recommend the other was a Cenote trip which I would also recommend if you like adventure.
5 different restaurants, plenty of amazing choices. Fit and fun staff were amazing. Shows were outstanding along with the live music each night. Karaoke.

Pros: Resort was clean and beautiful. Amazing view from the balcony. Staff was friendly.
Cons: Seafood was not as fresh as it should be for an ocean resort.
Location: Riu hotel right next door and two others a taxi ride away. The hotels were all nice and all had their pluses and minuses.
hotel was nice and clean. We have stayed at the Palace in cabo and felt that the cabo palace was better for the price. We did check out all the RIU resorts in cancun and all had their pluses and minuses. But the Peninsula had the most amenities and comforts available out of the RIU hotels in cancun. Pluses: Resort had four pools for the quests and plenty of lounge chairs. pool bar pool- small but nice and clean. children/ramp pool- this pool had a gradual ramp down into the pool so children, handicapped or elderly can gradually access the pool( this was the biggest pool of all four). Popular pool- where most the events/activities happened infinity pool- clean and nice this was closest to the beach. technically there is a fifth pool but only for VIP guests only (Villa guests) (most) Staff was nice and professional. Resort was clean and beautiful. Amazing view from the balcony. AC was the best at this resort compared to the other RIU cancun hotels. Nice variety of food at the buffet. Minuses Seafood was not the best. There was always a hint of fishiness no matter what it was. I tried a little bit of everything and they all still had a fishy taste. Non of the shrimp was deveined. Some of the shows were less then average( but some were great)
