We decided to splurge and book Paradisus. A week before arriving Paradisus emailed a sheet with my room requests and or any special celebrations. I included both-I wanted 1 queen size bed my only request & I didn’t it was my 40th bday. Once we arrived they told me my room had 2 beds and when I asked why they sent me an email to ask me my request if they would not do it. They said a request doesn’t mean it would get done! But they did offer to up sale me a bigger room with 1 bed and a nicer view for an additional $2000.00. I said no thank you, I stayed with my 2 bed room. We have stayed in less expensive hotels like the Riu and once you mention a special celebration they are quick to send you a gift like chocolate or champagne bottle-I got nothing at paradisus; even after they asked me what I was celebrating and paying double for what I paid at Riu.all the restaurants require a reservation and mostly everything booked! All the beds by the pools are extra charge. When I offered to pay for my beach bed they hounded me to attend of their time share meetings and I would get the bed for free. After being hounded for over a day I caved went to the meeting and got my bed but it didn’t included the same things that I was told it would include if I had paid for. So I wasted 2 hours of my vacation time for nothing. It was a nightmare! they gave me a bed at the corner of the beach and when I asked to move they said I had to pay extra. My whole experience was disappointing.

Great time overall, the servers at the buffet (Ingacio, Atilano, Joni, Tere, & Arturo) Made the experience they much better shoutout to them and the entire staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful

Although we had a great time. The buffet was amazing and the staff was great! The first day was destroyed with the check in process. We did not get one of our rooms till after 6 pm. We were asked to come back 5 times and each time asked to stand in line again. I could barely stand any more. Also the concierge was great however it makes no sense that he had to make reservations for us and it never landed on a time that worked with our excursions so we had to cancel all of them and dine at the buffet.

This property was fine. A little old and kind of run down but it was clean. We visited for our anniversary and obviously had a king room reserved. (3 months in advance) we got two double beds and they said they were sorry nothing they could do. They offered us to move rooms on day 4 but by then who wants to repack your entire room with 2 days left. Very difficult to make reservations for dinner. I suppose there aren’t enough restaurants to accommodate all the guests in the evening. So you may get the buffet for all 3 meals a day. But the pressure put on to go talk to their time share people after blatantly getting to the point of saying no but trying to stay nice was relentless (we have been through the talk 2 other times in the Dominican and didn’t want to sit through it again) they weren’t thrilled with us at all about that. Over all it was fine and our goal of relaxing was met…just had a few things that will lead us to try other properties the next time we go and not a Meliá resort again

I loved my experience at Paradisus! All of the staff was so helpful and accommodating, especially Miguel, Jennifer and Caesar in the Bldg 5 Reserve area. The resort is quiet and serene. If you are looking to relax this is the place. A quick taxi or bus ride gets you to the party area so I highly recommend this spot. The room with two beds are two FULL size beds not queen size. Be aware that if you share this room the shower is exposed to the rest of the room. There is a curtain but you can still see the silhouette. My friends and I are going back next year because we loved it so much!
