"Great: Service, cleanliness, pools, kids' club, overall expeirence. Cheap laundry! Everyone we interacted with went above and beyond: the staff at the lobby, the housekeeping, the bartenders, the servers in the restaurants. Not good: The food. There was almost nothing my four-year-old son would eat at the buffets other than fruit, bread, and cheese quesadillas. The milk and yogurt were frequently gone bad, the "hot food" for kids was always cold, and there were rarely any kid-friendly meat or fish options. I don't eat seafood or pork, which shut me out of most buffet items too. Even the more traditional Mexican food was pretty mediocre. The hotel also didn't tell us in advance that most a la carte options were closed in the off-season. We ended up having much better food in Tulum and on our guided tours, and definitely needed a supermarket visit in the middle of our stay. Negative stuff that the hotel can't control: Sargassum levels were through the roof because of climate change, so the beaches were useless and everything smelled. Bahia Principe has also recently been bought out by Hyatt, so any corner that can be cut, is. I suspect that's what's behind the (temporary?) closure of almost all a la carte options."
