We have been to this resort a few years ago and my wife wanted to return because she enjoyed it. The resort has changed, no more robes and slippers in the room, and the rooms require some serious maintenance. Our sink drain would not stay up so we had to pull the drain out in order to use the sink, you would think room staff would address this but never did. We had to constantly request enough towels for three people and our coffee supplies were never restocked, I had to chase down room staff for cream and sugar. Another issue was the glass brick windows in the bathroom could be clearly seen thru from the outside walkway, my wife had me go out and I could clearly see her in the bathroom waving at me.we had to cover it with tape and the laundy bag. the restaurants have gone down because a lot of the food was lukewarm and their was not much variety. A lot of the same stuff everyday (I don't think I ever saw a non burnt piece of bacon while there) The staff was great but the quality has gone down. My wife couldn't wait to get to the El Dorodo restaurant to get their short rib dinner because we used to love it. This time it was very mushy and my wife and son couldn't eat it. The resort is kept clean and the beaches were decent, but we couldn't get over the amount of cats on the resort. Every day we would walk by hundreds of cats on the property. i.e restaurants, lobby paths to buildings. I have never seen so many cats in my life on a resort, it doesn't help that guest feed them

I liked the nature around the property. I did not like that you could not get breakfast in your room. Too spread out with too much walking

Our stay was magical! Our Villa was on the beach and we had an amazing outdoor shower. The food was top notch and the staff was incredible. We cannot wait to return!

This resort was amazing! The ff was friendly and helpful, the rooms, the pools, the restaurants, and the beaches were beautiful. It was nice being able to go to most restaurants without reservations and my family had an incredible time!

Great hotel with plenty of entertainment options!

Pros: Great complex. 4 different lobbies, each with multiple themed restaurants, bars, buffets, etc. Many pools to choose from. Staff is great!
Cons: There were a lot of food options, for the most part, they were just "ok". Some items better than others
The staff is very kind and accommodating. The complex is great, they have 4 different hotel lobbies, each with multiple restaurants, buffets, bars, pools, etc. A lot of shows and entertainment. Spa is great. "AllTournative" and "aventuras mayas" had great excursions. (Leo was a great tour guide). The hotel provided some very generous gifts for us. Wildlife around the resort is awesome. Coati and iguanas are wandering around everywhere and it's really cool. Food was "ok" all in all but there are a lot of options and we didn't get to try all the restaurants. They have Italian, Brazilian, Habachi, Steakhouse, Thai, Seafood, Rib, and Mexican-themed restaurants, plus all the breakfast/lunch/dinner buffets. Check out an excursion that includes "Sonote" (underground water cave) swimming.

DO NOT GO HERE! OUTDATED AND UNCOMFORTABLE.

Pros: The tropical setting. The live animals. The pools are beautiful. The food services people were very nice. The front desk and hostess, not so.
Cons: They need to re-evaluate some of their front desk people. Very unfriendly. Some of the hostesses do not know how to greet guests with warmth.
Location: We went to XE-HAI -it was great.
After 8 hrs of travel, we can't wait to check in. This is our 4th consecutive year to Mexico for our family annual vacation. We were excited about the beach, pools, unlimited food & drinks. Upon check in about 9:30 pm, we were told that the buffet will be closed by 10:00 pm. So we figured, we'll just settle for room service. To our surprise-NO ROOM SERVICE!! We managed to get to the buffet & was met by a very unhappy hostess. I am sure the staff were tired so we tried to eat fast. During the walk back to the room through the dimly lit walkways, we got about 5-10 mosquito bites each. The whole 8 days was all about dealing with mosquitoes and suffering from the itchiness and disgusting bumps all over your back, arms, legs, neck and face. The kids refused to leave the room after the 2nd night. I had upgraded to a Jr. suite (Villa 57). What I got was a room slightly worst than Motel 6. Ground floor, filthy, smell of cigarettes (requested NON-smoking). The decor was dated, the mattress was about 6"tall, the bedskirt was moldy, the bedding was flimsy, the phone jack was off the wall and more mosquitos. I called the front desk to request for another room, but of course, there was nothing they can do. The next morning, we tried to get a another room, but was told there was nothing available. I was so upset when the front desk lady told me I had to contact Travelocity if I wanted to change to another Villa. VERY UNACCOMMODATING RESORT! To top it all off-NO POOLSIDE FOOD SERVICE. SAD

By the way; I would like to point a couple of the details that are mistakenly said in your review. We do have two pool side restaurants. One of them is located in the main pool of Kantenah-Colonial area; and the second one located in the main pool of White Sands-Riviera main pool. The buffet closes at 1030 every evening; just for the doubts. Regretfully for you, free room service was being implemented during your stay and is actually greatly functioning in the entire resort. Very nice, clean, well-kept resort.

Pros: Very clean. Great food. Buffets had better food than the full-service restaurants. Good service at bars.
Cons: Room housekeeping service was late a couple of days - possibly due to a language barrier. Problems were rectified quickly when we called the office
Location: We took a bus tour to Tulum and Akumal. Nice tour, but be prepared for a long ride in a crowded bus.
Very nice experience. Rooms were very clean and well-maintained; we felt safe at this resort. Pool areas, grounds, and restaurants were very well managed and maintained also. Excellent food in all buffets; great drink service.

Close to all the excursions

If you like activities and all the excursions near the hotel then this will be a good location. This hotel also has a lot of nice swimming pools for adults and kids. Great for snorkeling. No room sevice as there are too many buildings in the hotel. Not a lot of staff around the pool or beach to bring you drinks or food. Some days We stayed out in the pool area the whole time and didn't see one staff around to help us with drinks. We ended up going coming to the bar and ask for drinks ourselves. Cannot bring food out to the pool area. Drinks are not as great as other hotels I've stayed in Cancun. The beach is very rocky and not clean. No ocean view rooms even though we've upgrade to junior suites (the only building that has ocean view is the honeymoon suites). A lot of walking from room to pool or restaurant. They have golf carts driving around but it will take you forever if you decides to wait. No elevator, one of my friends has back pain and was giving a room on third floor( highest floor). He asked to change room but they said all the rooms were full and all they could do is put his name on waiting list. He never got the bottom floor room. The food in the buffet was alright. I heard my friends said the seafood restaurant out on the beach was good but you have to make reservation and the people who stayed in royal suites has priority, what ever spot left is yours but...(good luck). My friends woke up at 7 to make reservation and there were only two slots left.

Too big and awful service

I made the reservations several months ago. I also called a couple of days before leaving the US to make sure res was correct. I got there res was all wrong. the service was awful and the worse part is that nobody really cared. I will never stay there again nor will I will anything positive to say when I know someone is looking to out to Riviera Maya.
