"One thing we liked most about the hotel was that it was very clean. You would see people cleaning, sweeping, mopping everywhere. The food wasn't that great. What you get at the restaurants are also served in the buffet. The restaurants were FCFS, so you would need to wait in line to get a table before the restaurant opened. The hotel is really big. It is quite a walk from the rooms to the pools and even further to the beach. There are 5 elevators but they are all beside each other. So getting from your room and to the pool is far. The beach is great but they do not provide an umbrella (you can rent them for 300 mxn a day). There were lots of loungers around the pool, we never had a hard time getting seats. For drinks you had to go to the bar to get them. There isn't poolside servers. One day they had a drink cart but had limited drinks. We wished there were servers instead of having to walk and wait in a line (especially with kids). The kids area is great for kids 5 and under. The splash pad was under construction when we were there. We felt the kids area was the only space that lacked cleanliness. The hotel was recently renovated (December 2025). The rooms were updated and clean. Drinks & mini bar in the rooms were included. They also had lots of night shows (for kids as well). Overall decent place to stay. If the food was better we would go back. This was the most disappointing part of our trip."

"Myself and my 2 boys had the most wonderful time at Meliá. The kids were well taken care of in kids club by Sara, Janet and Cass and had a blast. Everyone working there very nice. Good value for money and our ocean view room had the most beautiful view. "

"My only complaint is my room was not refilled with bottled water. The sign on the mini bar said it was restocked every 2nd day, on day 4 I had to call and ask for it."

"This place surprised me in a very good way! I read reviews and I was a little hesitant about it. I had a wonderful time at Dreams and Secrets. Service was excellent! Happy staff always w a great attitude! Food was great! All restaurants were delicious. All amenities were great. Staff way friendlier than Secrets Akumal for sure! I highly recommend this hotel. I will be coming back for sure. "

"Absolutely loved the resort. The staff was exceptional. So kind and friendly and we were constantly offered rides in the golf cart while we were in the lobby and walking around the resort. Our room was so clean and it was cleaned daily always with new towels and a restock of the drinks in our fridge, and the shampoo and body wash smelt SO GOOD, I’m trying to find it for my house lol. The food options were pretty good, I would say the Mexican buffet for breakfast and dinner, especially dinner, was far superior than the Italian buffet and the international breakfast. Now the teppanyaki dinner was by far the best. I recommend getting 2 reservations for dinner because I regret not doing it twice. Everything was so good, and the chef put on a show for sure!! All of the lunch options were great as well, especially the shrimp tacos from the bar in tower 6, I forget the name. The coffee bar, organic and co was also delicious and had great non dairy milk options! The private beach club was beautiful as well, and super good food! The ice cream at the 24 hour pantry was awesome too, just remember the ice cream service ends at 9 pm! There was also tons of cute cats and other wild life around the property, lots of iguanas! They did leave poop on the walk ways at times so just look out for that but it never smelt while we were walking around! It was cleaned pretty frequently too from what I could tell. All in all, I loved this resort and hope to be back one day!!"
