I think the property as a whole needs quite an update, if you rate this property a 4 1/2 stars, RIU Palace Peninsula in Cancun should be rated as a 6 star hotel which by the way everything there was a lot better from cleanliness, to amenities, to entertainment, to quality of food; the only thing that was even money was the personal treatment.

The food and the pools and location were all amazing. Excellent beach as well, and overall very friendly staff. Unfortunately I was attacked by bed bugs and had a very hard time sleeping and feeling comfortable due to bites all over my body and constant itching.

We would like to assure you the bites do not come from bed bugs but more likely from mosquitoes, sandflies or gnats. As they like water, they are more dense at rivers and beaches. The busiest days for mosquitoes and sandflies are warm, cloudy and windless, and are more noticeable just before it starts to rain due to humidity. In addition, some people are more sensitive to these creatures than other. To assure our guests’ well-being throughout the resort, we have procedures in place which are verified by Cristal International Standards. CIS are global leaders in systems and services for brand quality, standards management and related risk management. Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta has demonstrated a high level of cleanliness, following rigorous room hygiene audits by CIS’ professional auditor on-site on a bi-monthly basis. Audits include verification that rooms are free of bedbugs. Nonetheless, we will take the opportunity to double check the rooms you occupied. We hope you will give us another chance to regain your confidence as it will be a pleasure to welcome you back soon. With Service from the Heart

Beautiful secluded beach. The restaurant service was excellent with fantastic views. There were a couple guys that took really good care of us at the pool when it came to drink service. The hotel is older, in need of upgrading. The bar tenders were not friendly and fun like the other Mexico resorts we’ve been to. There was no one helping at the pool to move umbrellas or know if someone had just left a towel on a chair or was actually using it. The food was ok but not great. Turn down service was hit and miss.
