The beach is beautiful, but the property is in poor condition. For example, the wifi is poor, our master room's lock is broken, some outlets don't work, the restaurants have very strict rules (eg. must be exactly on time, limited seats, limited order), and the front counter Coral is very impolite, and she doesn't care about the review.

Canto del Sol – Great Value & Pleasant Stay Rooms & Cleanliness Despite some negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. Our room was spotless upon arrival and cleaned daily, with fresh bedding and towels. The resort is well-maintained, and while it's older, this had no impact on our stay. The beds were comfortable, though the pillows could use an update. Food & Restaurants The food offered good variety and was solid for a three-star resort. Our Surf & Turf restaurant meal was excellent, with great presentation. Tip: Book à la carte restaurants as soon as you arrive—we received two vouchers for a five-night stay but could only use one because we waited too long to book. Drinks & Bars The bars were fantastic, with a great selection of drinks and friendly bartenders. Activities & Entertainment There were plenty of activities for both kids and adults, making for a fun and engaging stay. Final Thoughts Overall, Canto del Sol offers excellent value. The service, cleanliness, and experience exceeded our expectations. If you’re looking for an affordable, well-maintained all-inclusive resort, this is a great choice. Would we stay here again? Absolutely!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom mountain side suite. The breakfast buffet on this side was closed for a palapa repair which was one benefit because it was less busy. The room is getting old and worn. The master bathtub drained very slow and by the end it never did drain. The maid attempted to clean our room (just made the beds) and never did return the towels that she took to wash. The front desk had to replace them. We were lucky enough to reserve the Al a Carte restaurants most days for dinner which were great. It is worth the wait in line to book them. The buffet was always cold breakfast, lunch and dinner. We did eat out quite often which is unfortunate for it being an AI. We had family visit and for a couple hours and we wanted for our 3 year old granddaughter to play in the kids play park however they denied her because she didn’t have ID. All 4 adults had ID. Not sure if this is standard but we weren’t going to carry a child’s passport around. The beach is small and most of the palapas are so low to the ground that you cannot use them unless you crawl under. The benefits of this hotel is that the location is great. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops close by. Walking distance to malls, grocery stores and downtown. The staff are friendly.

I paid for the VIP access to have dinner in thier restaurants, but by the time I get to the hotel, restaurants were completely booked. Someone stole my towels in the hotel and they can´t do nothing but charge me. food is very poor, not to many options and not tasty, actually was very bad. I paid too much for what I received. My room was cleaned until 5pm. I love Vallarte, I´ve been there many times, but this was terrible

Staff was good...mountain view rooms are a long walk to the ocean. Food was mediocre at best. Variety was lacking same thing in buffet day to day. Al a carte was better but reservations fill up fast. Cleaning rooms was basic, 2 weeks and never cleaned the patio area once we had to do that ourselves. Angela on the wait staff in the pool area was excellent. Quick, fun and loved the joking around.

I had several things not work in my room the telephone didn’t work. The TVs were old and the speakers were blowing. The Wi-Fi wasn’t working. The tub wouldn’t run without the shower running at the same time and it wasn’t running properly so it wouldn’t fill up. They came to fix these things, but when we came back, I guess they left WD-40 in our bedroom and her five-year-old had it so they could be better cleaning up for sure they still didn’t fix any of the problems after they left all the same problems are still existed. All of their rooms. Definitely need upgrading. The property is amazing. The food is amazing but your rooms need to be like completely re-hauled.

I really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff. Fresh bread & high quality drinks. Karaoke bar around the corner was awesome- staff recommendation. Entertainment was awesome - juggler, fire show & clown were our favourite night time and pool volleyball all the trivia by the pool really made our experience more fun. Great mix of families , 20-30’s and seniors who all were friendly. Some locals on resort who were much less friendly but it is what it is. Locals on the malecon were a treat.

I loved everything about the hotel. However, there was mold in our room and I’m highly allergic so that put a damper on it. As long as I wasn’t in the room, I was perfect. The staff was amazing very clean. Just a wonderful time.

All inclusive amenities not as advertised. Grounds were very dated and in need of refurbishment. They did not communicate the need to book a restaurant a week in advance. Ridiculous. Very poor communications and the staff seemwd apathetic, at best.

I liked that there were different sections with a pool, so if you felt like having a quiet pool day, you could hang out at the mountainside pool and still be close to a bar and i loved the ceviche! It was a bummer that the beach right out front was a steep drop and too dangerous, but walking down a bit it was better. It was really clean, but a little older and showing its age. There were a lot of eating options, but sometimes difficult to get a reservation. The surf and Turf was my favorite. The buffet was hit and miss as most buffets are. Staff are super friendly and the overall stay was good.
