"Standard All Inclusive Experience"
We stayed at the Riu Santa Fe for the first half of Thanksgiving week for a family re union, and the experience was good. It is a standard all inclusive resort, with multiple restaurants and pools. It is a huge resort and we had a room in Building 7 which is quite a walk from the lobby. This building has the pool where most of the day time action takes place, and there is constant music and people talking on the mike, yet our rooms were quiet. They had water aerobics daily which we participated in and was a lot of fun. They also have other pool competitions which add to the party atmosphere. The food at the buffet restaurants starts to taste the same after day one, nothing extra ordinary. The breakfast buffet (with made to order omelets and fresh smoothies) was better than the lunch and dinner buffets, but there is always a huge variety at all of them. The Italian restaurant was the best of the a la carte restaurants. Most of the evening action is in the lobby area, with shows and dances and the disco. Over all, it was a good stay, to relax and unwind, and the hotel staff are all very helpful, with or without tip. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the maintenance staff respond quickly to any issues. Drinks are plentiful, if a little watered down, near the pool area. Drinks at the lobby bars were normal. We also ordered a little celebration for our mother's 75th bday and the hotel staff and musicians were very accommodating, they got a cake and made it special for her.

"Playa Grande was EXCELENTE!"
Went here for my 30th with small group. We had an amazing time! Facilities were beautiful and huge. You never had to leave, but it was nice being close to the marina and being within walking distance of shops and some good bars and restaurants. I got upgraded to the Presidential suite, which was an amazing surprise. Wish we could've stayed longer to really use the place as it was like a penthouse apartment. The only issue is it backed up to a busy street, but it was still a great location. The adult infinity pools were stunning, saw whales from the pool while sipping on drinks at happy hour. The activities and the people who ran them were so friendly and really did a great job getting us involved and excited about activities. The coffee cart was amazing and I am use to artisan San Francisco coffee, so it was delicious! I would definitely stay here again. It was nice not to be in a 24/7 party environment like the other beach, but I wish we could swim in the ocean there, then we would never have left. Maybe it would be a good idea to let guests know who to look for when reaching the SJD airport as far as the booked transportation goes. We luckily had a translator with us who was able to find the legit service to drive us to the airport. That was a little confusing and scary for outsiders who had never been there before, but otherwise everything was great. Food onsite was decent, but to get authentic food we went downtown and stayed away from big tourist places. Thank you!!

"Beautiful hotel on the beach. "
Loved the service, and pools of which there were several including an incredible "infinity pool." Mediocre yet convenient hotel restaurants. However, the conceriage (ask for the terrific Cindi!!) for excellent nearby restaurants. She's spot on with her recommendations. One warning. Watch out for the persistent and ANOYING Time Share Salesman. OYE VEY. However, the existing time share owners in this hotel do highly recommended them.

"A very nice facility, in a beautiful location!"
Staff was very annoying. I did not realize this was an ownership facility. They were constantly after us to take a 90 minute tour. When trying to locate the check in counter, and after expressing that we were not interested in a tour, we were passed off to another staff member who would get us checked in. He sneakily ended up trying to convince us to take a tour after 10 minutes with him. We were approached at least 4 times! I hesitate to return or recomend this beautiful place because of it.

"Beautiful grounds right on beach"
We had a nice stay. Check in was easy once they found our reservation. They had it under the wrong last name. Rooms are nice and clean the kitchen was a nice touch if you plan on cooking. Our rooms air conditioner made our room very humid everything in our room felt damp including the bedding and also made the room smell like meldew.

Pros: beautiful pool area with chair side drink/food service, Jorge and Jonathan always made sure we had everything we needed, fish tacos at poolside restaurant were fantastic, premium domestic beers included in all-inclusive, Sunday brunch had an expansive and delicious spread, pool chairs were all very comfortable, grounds in general were beautiful even with ongoing construction, when the pool is full the sound of it overflowing the infinity edge drowns out the construction, margaritas at lobby bar were very good, spa was very relaxing and would recommend a massage with Celia Cons: given a room with two full beds even though king was requested for romantic vacation with my husband and were not able to switch when we asked to, room smelled like mildew entire stay even though it was on the 3rd floor, beds were not comfortable since mattresses seemed beyond their life Overall: would go back if there was a good deal or guarantee of a king bed room, could be a fun couples group vacation spot

Los Cabos Hotel & Travel Guide

Out and About in Los Cabos

Crystal-clear air, salt water and warm beaches will soothe you like a spa visit. If you visit in winter, you can go out in whale watching boats for up-close views of the humpbacks, gray whales, orcas and minke whales that spend the season in warm local seas. Just about every water-related activity is readily available from Los Cabos hotels, including sport fishing, kayaking, surfing, diving, parasailing, and even submarine trips and swimming with dolphins. When you're ready to rinse off the salt and rejoin an urban environment, you'll find that Cabo San Lucas offers one of the most exciting nightlife scenes in all of Latin America.

    Eating and Drinking

If you're looking for the full tourist experience, try out one of the many restaurants in the marina in Cabo San Lucas. The marina features food that is more on the American than Mexican side, and provides a great spot for people watching and bar hopping. For a more local flavor, check out the farmers market known as San Jose del Cabo Mercado Organico, or one of the seafood restaurants serving fresh fish caught daily.
