  • Security personnel will expect to see your boarding pass and travel ID as part of their checks. Store them in a convenient place, ready for inspection.
  • You’ll need to put your tunes on pause for a few minutes. Earphones must be taken off and put in a bin for X-raying. The same applies to items such as heavy jackets and belts.
  • Digital cameras, laptops and other electronic devices must be placed in separate bins to be X-rayed.
  • Face cream, toothpaste and other toiletry items in gel, liquid or cream form need to be stored in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). They also need to fit in a 1-quart (1-liter) clear zip-lock bag.
  • Airport security personnel will likely ask you to take off your shoes prior to entering the body scanner. Wear a pair that slip off easily. There’s nothing more annoying than having to do your laces up again and again.
  • The list of prohibited items is forever changing. Have a look at your carrier’s official website to learn about what is not allowed on board their aircraft.

How to find cheap flights

What is the best day to buy a plane ticket?

Airfares offered on Friday tend to be the cheapest, according to flight demand on Travelocity.ca in 2021. Purchasing your airfares on a Thursday or Saturday can also provide better value, however our advice if you’re looking to save money is to avoid booking on a Wednesday or Sunday. Our data shows that those two days have the highest ticket values on average, so keep this in mind if you’re browsing flight deals.

What are the cheapest days to fly?

Frequent travellers may already know this, earlier in the week is often the cheapest time to fly. Flights departing on a Monday are the cheapest of the week. Since flights towards the middle of the week tend to be more popular, this causes the prices to rise. This is why, on average, airfares booked on Travelocity.ca in 2021 were most expensive for Wednesday departures.

How far in advance can you book a flight?

Here’s the deal: It is typically possible to start comparing international airfares on Travelocity.ca up to 12 months in advance. However, it does depend on the carrier as not all airlines release their prices that far out. According to our 2021 flight demand trends, last minute planners can still bag a bargain with some of the cheapest fares appearing 2-4 weeks prior to their travel dates.

*According to flight demand on Travelocity.ca from January to December 2021. Savings are subject to change and may vary depending on selections made.

Flights To Myrtle Beach

You want to use your hard-earned vacation time to work on your putting stroke on as many different courses as possible. Your better half wants to cut a rug Carolina Shag dancing all night long. And you both want to spend some lazy afternoons counting the clouds float across the baby-blue sky. You could book three separate vacations—or you could head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and experience all three idyllic getaways at once. For a vacation that is filled with fun-in-the-sun beach activities, gorgeous gold courses, and amusements galore for all ages, check out flights to Myrtle Beach. The shining star of the Grand Strand (the 60-mile-long stretch running from Little River to Pawley's Island) Myrtle Beach is known as both the "Sun Fun Capital" and "Golf Capital of the World." Its boardwalk has been voted one of the nation's best, and there's no better way to see it than from the top of the iconic 200-foot-tall SkyWheel. Fly into Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) dressed and ready to play in the sand or on the links. When you book your Myrtle Beach plane tickets through Travelocity, you’ll save enough to buy a few extra rounds—whether they be rounds of golf at the country club or rounds of drinks at the boardwalk beach club.

Transportation from MYR

Once your Myrtle Beach flight touches down, you’re undoubtedly going to want to drop your clubs off at your hotel and freshen up before you begin exploring the area. Stay in one of the many hotels close to Myrtle Beach airport and you'll be a five-minute ride to area attractions like Family Kingdom amusement park, Myrtle Beach Pavilion, the Children's Museum of South Carolina, Market Common, and the beach. Head west a few minutes and you'll be teeing off in golf heaven. The best way to get around in Myrtle Beach is via car; find a slew of car-rental options outside baggage claim. There's also extensive and inexpensive public transportation, most notably the tourist-friendly Coast Regional Transportation bus service. In addition to its regular routes (look for designated bus stop signs throughout town), its airport shuttle picks up from the airport's Ivory Wilson Transfer Station and stops at several hotels along North and South Ocean Boulevard. And a weeklong unlimited bus pass costs less than just a couple of short cab rides!

Hotels Near MYR

Being such a relatively small vacation destination, things are fairly close together in Myrtle Beach, with the airport being about 3 miles from the major tourist attractions in town. As such, all of the hotels are close to MYR. Here are some of the more popular options:

  • Sea Mist – With over 750 units, the Sea Mist is one of the area’s largest properties. If you are bringing the extended family—and might be staying for an extended length of time—you might want to consider one of their cottages, which can sleep up to 14.
  • Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort – Located in the heart of the Grand Strand, the Westgate’s oceanfront rooms offer sweeping views of the majestic Atlantic Ocean. After a long day on the beach, you are only a short walk from all of the area’s most popular attractions.
  • Dunes Village Resort – This family-friendly resort offers something special for every member of the clan—whether it be the 30,000 square foot indoor water park complex, the Lost in Serenity Spa, a miniature golf course, or Perks Up coffee shop.
  • Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort – With nine pool attractions, an oceanfront bar, exercise room, and gift shop, you might not want to leave this amazing resort. After a fun-filled day in the Carolina sunshine, unwind in one of the very well-appointed guestrooms.

Things to Do Near MYR

When the airport is right next to all of the area’s major attractions, you’re never too far from the fun. These are a few of our favorite things to do less than 1 mile from MYR airport:

  • Shopping – As with any seaside destination, you are going to want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Still, it never hurts to escape the heat with a little dose of retail therapy. The Coastal Grand Mall and its nearly 140 shops, restaurants, and services offer an amazing respite from the sweltering sun.
  • Golf – You did pack your clubs, right? Well, put them to use before you even check-in at your resort. Whispering Pines Golf Course is located just across the street from the airport entrance. Talk about a great way to stretch your legs after a long flight!
  • Beach – Why not start the tanning session as soon as possible? You might want to double-up on the sunscreen, though. After a long flight, relaxing on a soft sandy beach might turn into a full-day affair.

Soak up the Myrtle Beach Sun

You can find the cheapest flights to Myrtle Beach on Travelocity. But, why buy only Myrtle Beach airfare when you can add a hotel room in a money-saving bundle vacation packages? You might just decide to extend your trip with that extra cash—or by those new clubs or dancing shoes you’ve had your eye on. Flight deals to Myrtle Beach are plentiful, so it's an option you'll be quite tempted to consider!
