Beyond Gorgeous
La Sirena is an absolutely exquisite property with lush plantings around a lovely big pool and wide walkways leading to the rocky beach. Mother and two daughters had come to celebrate one daughter's 60th birthday, and to escape winter in New England and chaos in the US. We found peace and comfort and joy at La Sirena. The house itself was roomy and beautifully decorated with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a sunning terrace, a screened in porch, small kitchen, dining area and comfortable living room. I would have liked to be met and shown around the place on arrival but when we had questions, Francesca (a perfect gem) was there in minutes to make things right. Thank goodness not everyone reviews only online...the guest book afforded useful tips on where to eat and what to do. We were so blissfully happy with our home away from home that we spent most of our time by the pool or at the beach, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the complex. I can't say enough about how welcoming and friendly the staff were. They set the tone for our entire visit. Thank you for opening your home to us. We loved every minute of our time there.

Perfect for our family vacation
La Sirena and unit 18 in particular were just what we had hoped for. We had plenty of space inside the unit - the roof patio and screened porch for our snorkel gear and wet things after time at the beach or pool were extra nice. The location in Akumal made it easy for our family to walk to Yal-ku or Akumal beach for snorkeling or to drive to many spots around the peninsula for more adventures. It was nice to be able to come home each day and enjoy the beautiful pool, relax on the little beach or even snorkel one more time right in the bay. We highly recommend La Sirena!

Great family vacation

Beautiful family getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful location! We loved the laid back vibe + uncrowded pool and beach. Our 8 and 11 year old enjoyed swimming in the pool and playing in the sand, and the adults in our group enjoyed snorkeling both in the ocean and the laguna. The ocean entry for the condos is rocky so our kids did not want to swim or snorkel there, but our 11 year old loved snorkeling in Laguna Yal Ku which is just a few blocks away. There was a random assortment of snorkel gear in our condo that my brother and dad used, as well as some water shoes. My husband and I brought our own snorkel gear and some for the kids, and with that there was enough gear for everyone. Water shoes were key since it is a rocky entry to the ocean. We also walked over to the sandy beach in Akumal (you have to pay to enter the beach) where our kids loved swimming. The downside is that you have to walk along the road a little over a mile to get to the center of Akumal since the beach is so rocky. We also loved all of the birds and spotted many coatis and jumping squirrels. Overall, we had a fantastic trip!

Great family stay
We had a wonderful stay in Akumal.
The unit was simply amazing. LOTS of space and very nicely furnished. My kids had a blast at the pool. The neighborhood was quiet, with a couple of restaurants and a convenience store at walking distance. Overall, great location.
My only thing that was a minor disappointment was the beach. Between the rocks and the current it was not particularly enjoyable. We ended up spending much more time at the pool instead. Regardless, we had a great time and we highly recommend this unit.

Awesome place!
The La Serena complex is enchanting and unit 18 was a wonderful place to stay. So much space for everyone! The beds were so comfortable and we loved having the indoor and outdoor spaces. The beach area was perfect with the sand, chairs and palapas and our kids loved the pool! Walking to the lagoon was very easy and we never worried for a minute about safety.

Paradise Home Away from Home
We couldn't have asked for a better property for our first international trip, including some anxious travelers. The condo had EVERYTHING we needed and the entire staff was available to answer all of our questions.

Super Relaxing & Great Snorkeling
What a beautiful & peaceful place! We enjoyed staying in this 3 bedroom condo so much. The upstairs balcony was the perfect place to relax over morning coffee/tea or evening drinks on a rainy night.
The screened-in porch downstairs was a favorite place for breakfast while looking out at the meticulously kept garden & pool. I think this condo has the most beautiful garden area in Akumal! The master bedroom upstairs has an amazing brick dome ceiling that's just fabulous.
The staff at La Serena is so helpful as is the property listing agent. Yarely, our houskeeper kept our condo immaculate and was so sweet. David, our concierge at i-Akumal helped us by scheduling or transportation to & from the airport & our private concierge doctor, Dr. Kenny, to do our COVID test at our condo before returning home to the US.
We loved being able to snorkel in our " backyard", the private beach area, & being a short 5 minute walk to Yal-Ku Lagoon.
This was the perfect vacation condo & highly recommend it. We'll be booking again soon.
