"Paradise Found!"
We booked the Koa Kea based upon several reviews and were not disappointed. We upgraded to a deluxe oceanfront room and were extremely pleased with size, bedding, and amenities. This is really a wonderful hotel, with the perfect location, small size, and outstanding service one expects in a five star hotel. We ate in the hotel restaurant Red Salt and the food was well-prepared and creative. Drinks by the pool were all top shelf brands and generously poured. The staff is friendly and helpful--eager to please, but not hovering or fawning. The room was serviced twice per day and was immaculate. The location of the hotel was perfect--right on the beach and enjoying a perfect view of the Pacific. There was a lovely beach steps from our room and the surf shack provides everything one needs for sunning, surfing, and snorkeling. We could not have been more pleased with our stay and are planning to return next year.

"Great location! Nice hotel."
I would stay at this location again. I loved the beach and the location of the hotel on the island. The room was clean and nice. My only complaint was that the bathroom was too small. It made it difficult for a family of four. The staff was very welcoming, professional and easy going.

"Colorful building and very nice staff"
I love the people running this place. The rooms are nice, very colorful art work everywhere you look; the walls, the doors, even the shower is hand painted. We were comfortable, although on hot nights the small A/C was cold but louder than normal. We still slept like babies. I would stay there again.

"better than expected"
Rooms were great - we hade a "garden view" condo, with two bedrooms, living room with pullout couch, and kitchen. Went with 3 adults, 2 kids. Our view was of the pool which was nice, and could see part of the ocean. Kitchen had fridge, microwave, oven, can opener, silverware/settings. There was a washer/dryer. Main bedroom had nice big bathroom with big shower. The shower head though was pretty small for the size of the shower. Air conditioning units in both bedrooms worked well, but main living room did get somewhat warm. There were plenty of warning about the ongoing construction, but this had little to no impact on our vacation. There was not excessive noise (but we were a bit away from main building under construction). There were occasional workers doing odd jobs around our building. The pool was great for the kids, very large, not deep, beach sand around it. Don't count on any privacy in the hot tub though, kids just go in that too. Wifi internet included, but had to enter a long username and password everytime you logged on which became annoying. Poolside grill ok. Overall very pleased and room much nicer than we expected. Would definitely go again.

"It's definitely a budget hotel"
It's cute and quant, but a no frills kind of place. There is a restaurant on the beach which is nice and tasty, but is a bit pricey. We referred to the hotel as the "motel 6 of Hawaii" If you want a bargin in Kauaii, this is your place. If you want luxury look to the Marriott.

It was a nice place to stay. We did request to be on the top floor but the request was denied. We had two nights of quiet and then the elephant family occupied the roon above us and there was noise from morning to night. They walked like they had lead boots on and talked very loud. They also took showers at all hours of the night. The walls are very thin. One bad aspec of the property.

"Nice resort with a free upgrade."
We reserved a 1 bedroom suite but due to overbooking we were actually given a huge 2 bedroom condo that was awesome. Very nice décor, full kitchen with everything you could need to cook dinners, lots of movies and games, snorkels, tennis rackets, etc. Cannot complain one bit although I doubt this normally happens to people. Staff was nice and accommodating. Facilities were clean and the view is great.

"These are older condos, but very clean and comfortable. Be sure you check on the location within the complex, because some updgrades are worth it."
One stumbling block.....they contract the pool rights and the pool is only open until 6 p.m. We found that to be a little inconvenient, but otherwise it was a good place to stay.

"wonderful honeymoon!"
I was really happy with everything.... though we did upgrade to ocean side because the street/ Safeway side ("mountain view") was not pleasant or mountainous. Grills, hot tubs, pool were great and the room and kitchen outstanding.  Subzero fridge!
