"Good choice"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was quite small and only one person could be in the bathroom at a time but was updated. One 4 person elevator that wasn't always working properly. Beach right across the street... perfect location.

If you are concerned with having a "swank" hotel than this is not the place for you. The hotel is definately older and it shows. Thats not to say it wasnt a good place to stay. We were there just for a place to sleep which the room was adequate enough for. The staff was great, they were alway friendly and accomodating. The only other issue I had was parking....there is no on-site parking, you have to have a valet take your car and park it at an off-site facility which the hotel bills you at 29.00 a day which they dont tell you. So low and behold when you check out there is an additional fee for parking.

"Beautiful hotel!"
This place was great! Room was so nice, pool was beautiful & so was the view. Staff in the lobby were beyond friendly. I do wish the pool staff was a little more kind (I am young, I feel like they paid a little less attention to me.) but overall great stay!

"Unique hotel but know what you're getting into "
This review has two goals. The 1st is about our experience and the 2nd is just a heads up. We read the reviews and fully understood going in that this was not a nice quiet asleep by 11 experience. We didn't really think through that we were going in the middle of spring break madness which multiplied everything. Our fault, not the hotel. We had a 5th floor ocean side room. Specifically did that side because we read that the pool/night club goes late so avoid that side. It does go until 5am every night, not even kidding! However on Fri/Sat night there's a 6th floor club that goes til 3. Right.above.our.heads. Front desk did warn us on check in and offered to move us next door to the Essex if we wanted but we chose to stay. As for the hotel itself, it's a 3 star facility but in fairness the staff was all 5 star. Every single person we encountered was on their game. It would have been easy to slack off at such an intense time of the year but they didn't. The wristband is magic it seems. There seems to be a washcloth shortage as we had to beg them to give us some. The worst/weirdest part is the bathroom set up. Really stupid partially see through sliding doors. We expected small rooms but they are extremely sparse as well. No privacy at any time in these rooms if you get my drift. PS, avoid SOBE during spring break, it's out of control and it's clear the locals and the businesses are not happy about it. (and no, I'm not a grumpy old fart)

"Good start, but needs some work"
My first impression of the hotel was great! They greeted us very warmly and immediately escorted us to our room to sign in (nice touch!). We also got a mini welcome cocktail. The room (a manor villa) was beautiful and beautifully appointed (with a live orchid in the living room!). While the staff are all incredibly warm and friendly, not all of them are very efficient. I had to call the hotel three times before arriving to get restaurant reservations made, each time being told that it would ABSOLUTELY get done (but the restaurants recommended were excellent) and in the end, we had reservations at two different places for the same night, which I had to straighten out. We ordered room service one morning and then never again. Not that there was anything wrong with the food. No one ever picked the tray up. I even called to request tray pick-up - twice. Instead it sat outside our room and the milk soured. Service in the restaurant was great and the food is fabulous. The cocktails are inventive and delicious and the wine list is reasonable and well-edited. The interior of the hotel is also beautiful. The weirdest part of the stay was maid service. We prefer to save water and not have the linens and towels changes during short stays. Despite this, the maid removed the washcloths from one bathroom and didn't replace them (no harm, we just took them out of the OTHER full bath) and for some reason, the top sheet was removed from the bed and not replaced. This happened on our last full day and we didn't notice until we got in bed, so we didn't bother to complain. Overall, a good start, but still needs some work to come up to snuff.

    Miami Beach Hotel Guide

Your oar slices through the choppy water as you propel the kayak a few yards farther into the bay. The days you’ve spent so far on the blissful beach behind you have been incredible, and you’ve still got more time to go. You’ve heard stories your whole life about the scene in Miami—the idyllic climate, picturesque palm trees, neon lights, pastel buildings, and Cuban influence—and this city has exceeded your expectations in every way. When you book a stay at one of the best beach hotels in Miami, you’ll enjoy the sand, the surf, and the nightlife this city is famous for.

Before making your fantasies of Florida come true by booking one of the many Miami beachfront hotels, here are answers to some questions you might have about life on the local beaches:

What are the best beach activities in Miami?

The waters here are home to a wealth of aquatic adventures for you to undertake:

    • Boating and sailing: With warm, tranquil water at most times of the year, boating enthusiasts are always eager to head out to sea.
    • Scuba diving: Home to plenty of shipwrecks and the world’s third-largest barrier reef, Miami has a huge number of diving spots awaiting your exploration.
    • Fishing: The assortment of ecosystems on the coast of this city are teeming with fish of all shapes and sizes, making Miami everything an angler could ask for.
    • Kayaking and canoeing: The Biscayne Bay’s calm and shallow waters make kayaking and canoeing among the most popular ways see the sea.
    • Board sports: Be it surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, or windsurfing, Miami is a dream come true for those who want to get a workout on the water.

Any advice on getting from MIA airport to downtown Miami?

You have a variety of choices when it comes to making your way from Miami International Airport to downtown Miami. It’s just over 9 miles from point A to B, and depending on what’s most convenient, you can take advantage of any of these options:

    • Rental car: Grab the wheel and take control of your destiny by arranging a ride from any of the 15 rental agencies that operate at the airport. Once you get the keys, it’s only about a 15-minute drive under usual traffic conditions.
    • Miami-Dade Metrobus: The Miami Beach Airport Express route departs from the city’s major flight facility throughout the day and connects with several other bus routes that can deliver you downtown for an affordable fare.
    • Miami-Dade Metrorail: By far the cheapest means of getting downtown from MIA, Metrorail route 150 on the Orange Line is a quick and easy way to arrive in the center of the action.
    • Taxi or Limousine: If you’re not in the mood for public transportation and aren’t too keen on reserving a rental, there are scores of taxi and limousine services in Miami that can help you get where you’re going on your schedule.

Travelocity helps you find amazing deals on rooms at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami, the Loews Miami Beach Hotel – South Beach, and dozens of other Miami hotels on the beach and in downtown. Regardless of whether you want to stay in a sumptuous suite or a modest motel, you’ll find the perfect room that fits right in your budget.
