Great time

Found the hotel/resort to be everything as reviewed. Lovely setting, great amenities, good food and pool with lazy river. It's a large resort but easy to get around and the ability to self park was a plus. We were surprised by the refillable water bottles and resort/pool bag in the room. Refrig and coffee maker were handy. All in all, great place to stay.

Great quality and service

The staff was unfailingly delightful. Although this is a big resort, it never felt crowded at all, which was remarkable. Very family and kid-friendly, but we (a middle-aged couple) had a great time as well. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. The pools are amazing. They are not square--they have natural volcanic rock sides and are a series of interconnected pools. Some are designated for 14+ ("adults") only. There is a lazy river connecting some of the pools so you can float away. There is also a saltwater lagoon that they constructed, surrounded by sand, so you can get the full beach experience without worrying about dangerous currents (a significant concern in the area). The concierge staff (contracted out to Expedia) was super-knowledgeable and helpful, for everything from excursions to dinner reservations. If you need a towel for an excursion, you can get one from the valet and return it when you get back to the resort. Towel are also available at the pools. If you didn't rent a car when you arrived at Lihue airport, you can rent from Avis right in the hotel lobby. Because the resort is so large, you end up doing a lot of walking, so that's something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. My husband had an excellent massage at the spa. Overall, it is an expensive place, but it was a great experience. I also appreciate how they have gone green--they provide reusable water bottles and have bottle

The layout of the hotel

Pros: The hospitality , the staff the set up , layout of the hotel the views.
Cons: Prices in the food specially at breakfast and drinks a little bite high
Location: The shopping area Kukulula, nice restaurants,1849 EXCELLENT, Icecream at Lapperts. North shore is worth visiting, ATV Tour!!!Catamaran to see caves
The set up of the lagoon , river and pool facilities make the view and the spaces private and comfortable to enjoy at any point form the rooms a great view , at the pool you have space and privacy form other guest and the are for the children is nice to enjoy as well . The location is excellent, very close to Poipu and restaurants , for a night out . The beach at the hotel is very nice and with easy access and with no rocks as the other beaches. The staff is very helpful and made our stay comfortable and very pampered....as honeymooners. The Spa is excellent and the free classes offered where very good and fun ! The food, very good breakfast ...a little over priced but good and the pool area snacks were very good and large portions. Drinks good. The view and set up of the restaurants bring a calm and relaxing feeling. For the last afternoon while waiting for departure they have a hospitality room ....very impressed, once again every detail to make your stay relaxing ,comfortable until the last minute .

A total resort.

The hotel was an escape and there was no need to leave the hotel to find island paradise.

Unbelievable

Pros: The pools, the beach, the trails and seaside cliffs for walking, the history, just sitting with a musubi and coffee and watching the sun come up,
Cons: prices... but I am as a rule cheap....
Location: The spouting horn, Waimea canyon is awesome, stop at the shrimp station, pizza in kaloa town, boat ride to the napali coast, helicopter tour, mai tais
Our family stayed at the Grand Hyatt for four of our 8 days on Kauia and wished we could have stayed forever. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. From the pools, to the gardens and the hotel itself.... nothing is left unattended. The hotel staff also goes beyond expectations. From the moment you pull up you are made to feel welcome and at home. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and looked after your every need. The prices at the resort are a little over the top but well worth it for the time spent here.If you have kids with you, like we did, this place is great because there is so much for them to do and we felt safe to let them run around and do their own thing. Thank you to all our new hoapilis at the resort and thank you for making our stay truly unbelievable. Save us a spot by the lagoon because we will surely be back.

Grand Hyatt

Second stay at the grand hyatt and we already can't wait to book our next trip. This resort has awesome views, a friendly staff and amazing restaurants. Our only issue was that the mattress was a little worn, so there were peaks and valleys formed which gave some discomfort.

Staff, facilities, property and location were all fantastic. Only item that was disappointing was the club room. Paid $75/day for the upgrade that was advertised to include cocktails only to find out there was an additional charge for each drink. This type off nickel and dime tactic is expected from lower class hotels but certainly not from a five star property.

Well Worth the Extra Money

Pros: Luxurious and palatial. Nice setting, nice layout. The swimming pools are very nice.
Cons: Parking lot is always full and sometimes challenging to find parking spots. I recommend not renting flotation devices for pool-- a bit of a waste.
Location: Heritage Trail behind hotel is a nice hike. Other hikes to waterfalls are wonderful. I recommend the Napali Coast Tour. Tidepools restaurant
This was a fantastic hotel. We travel to Kauai on occasion and usually don't spend as much on accommodations. This hotel was nicely-located near Poipu and is a VERY nice property with several nice swimming pools. The hotel staff is friendly and made for a wonderful vacation. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! The mosquitoes were a bit of a surprise-- I don't remember there being an issue with mosquitoes on our last trips to Kauai, so bring bug spray for those evening walks on the beach.
