The property has a semi-private beach (public beach but not as busy as other public beaches). They have a Luau on property, several dining options at the resort and several restaurants/food trucks nearby. It was great and we would definitely stay there again!

Beach is in a cove but so nice with some great waves for jumping through. Lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Would recommend a car if planning to explore the island.

My boyfriend and I visited Kauai in June and we stayed at the Royal Sonesta Resort in Lihue. This resort offers the biggest pool there is on the island and we enjoyed it to the fullest, including the hidden but public hot tubs around the pool. In my opinion these hot tubs were the best part. Easy access to the beach and restaurants, and it has many amenities. We enjoyed our stay at this resort and I recommend it for a fun summer stay with good vibes and weather.

Clean and Relaxing

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Royal Sonesta Kauai. It's connected to a Marriott resort, so there are a lot of restaurants and different spaces in which to relax. Our room was updated and clean, though they only provide in-room services every two days. As a vegetarian, there were limited options and our best meals were off the resort. We traveled all over the coastline to many beaches and I'm glad we did. The beach at the resort is fine, but there are a lot better ones elsewhere. The pool is pretty empty early in the mornings and then later in the evenings and I swam laps and relaxed during those times.
