"Pleasant stay for a good price"
We went with this hotel because it was reasonable and had good reviews. The facilities were good and all encompassing. It is older and could use some updating, but very clean and very friendly staff, especially all the front desk staff. Pool area was huge with a variety of options (Including a sand bottom and salt water version). We will return.

"Great quality and service"
The staff was unfailingly delightful. Although this is a big resort, it never felt crowded at all, which was remarkable. Very family and kid-friendly, but we (a middle-aged couple) had a great time as well. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. The pools are amazing. They are not square--they have natural volcanic rock sides and are a series of interconnected pools. Some are designated for 14+ ("adults") only. There is a lazy river connecting some of the pools so you can float away. There is also a saltwater lagoon that they constructed, surrounded by sand, so you can get the full beach experience without worrying about dangerous currents (a significant concern in the area). The concierge staff (contracted out to Expedia) was super-knowledgeable and helpful, for everything from excursions to dinner reservations. If you need a towel for an excursion, you can get one from the valet and return it when you get back to the resort. Towel are also available at the pools. If you didn't rent a car when you arrived at Lihue airport, you can rent from Avis right in the hotel lobby. Because the resort is so large, you end up doing a lot of walking, so that's something to be aware of if you have mobility issues. My husband had an excellent massage at the spa. Overall, it is an expensive place, but it was a great experience. I also appreciate how they have gone green--they provide reusable water bottles and have bottle

"Nice resort with a free upgrade."
We reserved a 1 bedroom suite but due to overbooking we were actually given a huge 2 bedroom condo that was awesome. Very nice décor, full kitchen with everything you could need to cook dinners, lots of movies and games, snorkels, tennis rackets, etc. Cannot complain one bit although I doubt this normally happens to people. Staff was nice and accommodating. Facilities were clean and the view is great.

It was a nice place to stay. We did request to be on the top floor but the request was denied. We had two nights of quiet and then the elephant family occupied the roon above us and there was noise from morning to night. They walked like they had lead boots on and talked very loud. They also took showers at all hours of the night. The walls are very thin. One bad aspec of the property.

"Very nice for Kauai"
Pros: Newer facility, beautiful villas with full kitchens, washer/dryer. Great pool for kids, close to very nice off-premise shops and restaurants, friendly & professional staff, little noise but yet kid-friendly. Cons: Not actually "on the ocean", there is a frontage road and some buildings between the hotel and the ocean. "Ocean View" is less than ideal. No sand beach (though there is a great public beach only a mile or two away) On-premise restaurant is somewhat weak.

"wonderful honeymoon!"
I was really happy with everything.... though we did upgrade to ocean side because the street/ Safeway side ("mountain view") was not pleasant or mountainous. Grills, hot tubs, pool were great and the room and kitchen outstanding.  Subzero fridge!

"Nice Hotel in Lihue"
My husband and I stayed at the Kauai Inn for a couple of days at the beginning of the year. This, being an older hotel and more in a residential area, was homey. Location-wise, it's convenient to Lihue town. Our room (king bed, corner room) was large compared to newer hotels in the resort areas. Nice restaurants and shopping centers were relatively near and easy to get to. We enjoyed the complimentary continental breakfast buffet, although some of the guests loaded themselves with the fresh fruit to take back to their rooms--leaving very little selection and no refills on the bananas, for example. The staff were pleasant and there were umbrellas we could borrow (it rained during our stay). Several roosters in the surrounding area, though, crowed early in the morning. Let's just say that we awoke earlier than planned.
