    New York Hotel Travel Guide

Bright lights and big cities meet cascading waterfalls and lush forests: New York offers visitors the best of both worlds. Why not spend a few nights staying in one of the many New York hotels in the heart of Manhattan, then rent a car and take a road trip upstate? There are plenty of nice, cheap New York hotels throughout the state to make it easy to plan your itinerary.

    Visiting New York

No visit to New York is complete without a visit to the Big Apple. Rockefeller Center, Broadway, Times Square, Central Park, world-class museums, shops ... prioritize what you want to see before you arrive. When you check into your New York hotel, ask your concierge where to find package deals that bundle admission fees for attractions. Cross the Brooklyn Bridge and stroll in Prospect Park, and hop on the Staten Island Ferry for priceless views of Lady Liberty.

There's much more to see in the Empire State than New York City. New York is composed of several regions. North of Long Island are the Lower Hudson Valley and Catskills regions. Check out the Walkway over the Hudson and the Museum at Bethel Woods (the site of Woodstock). The Capital region is home to Albany, and the upper tip of the state features the Adirondacks, home to Mirror Lake, Lake Placid, Mount Jo, and the Olympic Ski Jump Complex. In Central New York, visit Syracuse and Cornell University. The Finger Lakes region is named for its 11 narrow finger-shaped lakes, and Western New York is home to Buffalo, Rochester, and the not-to-be-missed Niagara Falls.

    "Very nice"
This was a really nice hotel, I'd heard negative reviews about it but my experience was all positive. The room was large and comfortable in fact much larger than I had anticipated. You can't beat the location for the price in midtown Manhattan.

    "Great location and cool vibes"
Being a frequent visitor to NYC, staying off Times Square is a big plus. The Hudson not only has a great atmosphere and bars, it is next to Columbus center, easy for taxis and subways. No mad tourist traffic and a great neighborhood for shopping and running errands. The service staff is terrific and the Private Garden is a huge plus for winding down with a glass of wine or meeting people outdoors. The only drawback is the size of the rooms - mine was barely bigger than my queen size bed.

This hotel was fabulous from start to finish. First of all, it's at the far end of "the strip" which means it's further away from the busy tourist spots and a tad bit quieter. The view from our window was amazing (see photos). We had a Superior King Fallsview room on the 19th floor and it was definitely worth the extra money to get the view. We actually spent a fair amount of time just sitting by the window watching the falls. The staff was very friendly and always said Hello and made conversation as you passed in the hallways. The room was clean and large. Lots of storage space for your luggage and a closet to hang up jackets. You can walk right out the door and use the funicular (at $2.75 a person) to get down the hill to the visitors center and the main sidewalk that runs along the river. My only complaint is that there is no parking. You are pretty much forced to use their valet service at $39 per night. It was extremely convenient and worth the money but it was an added expense that I hadn't planned for. They have a service where you can text your valet number 10 minutes before you head out and your car is ready and waiting at the front door. Again, very convenient but comes at a cost. Overall I was very impressed with the hotel. A bit expensive, but worth it in my opinion. You can't beat the location.

    "Nice hotel near Niagara Falls"
It was an amazing experience. In our room we had 4 adults and 2 children (ages 4 & 6). There was plenty of room and the kids loved the fireplace. The water park was a lot of fun for all of us, there were activities for all ages. We ate at the breakfast buffet in the hotel one of the days, the food was good. Outside there were games being played and the staff was extremely friendly. They even printed us out directions for where we needed to go.

    "Good location - peaceful stay"
I had read the many write ups of this hotel and wasn't quite sure what to expect. It was a decent hotel in Roslyn very close to some really terrific restaurants in walking distance which is even better should you wish to drink and not drive. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating - the hotel has old bones but has been renovated in a very modern style - probably better than trying to make it look old and kitsch. The rooms were clean, bright and airy. Good big beds. We asked for a quiet room at the back having read the previous reviews - 316 was allocated and it was fine. The only annoyance would be the very loud cold blowing like a gale a/c unit. But as its not central a/c what to do - after a while you give up and go with it! Perhaps rather pricey per night but then this is NY and Long Island.
