The TV did not work; the phone was out. The room was hot and the air conditioner did not cool it; it was incredibly dark, with grim windows to a tiny inner court; there was no desk to work at; the bed was okay. No refrid. but the safe was working. The closet was tiny. And it was a Manhattan overpriced and crummy experience. Note that the pictures make the place look like an elegant place to stay. The staff was helpful and kindly. And the location was fine for those who want the Times Square traffic and noise until 3AM. There is a convenience store and a decent restaurant nearby. And I spent $900 on a weekend stay...

Our first night was a bit loud outside which understandably is Not controlled by the hotel. Then was fine. Window a/c kept the room cool, but could not close. No problem, these are city noises! Friendly staff and great cleaning people, even though we always left the room late each day, it was always spotless when we returned.

We stayed 4 nights and were very happy. This is an older historic hotel so the decor is dated. Our room had been updated but the washroom was not. That being said, the AC worked and we had plenty of hot water. The sheets and towels were very good.

Prepare for Crazy LOUD jackhammer noise at midnig!
Great location but you won’t be happy if you hear super crazy LOUD jackhammer noise from 12th floor at 1:00am-2:00am!!! I don’t know what’s going on there! We stay on the 11th floor and it’s a horrible experience!

The rooms were clean and functional. The staff was very friendly, Joe was fantastic. The elevator was a little worrisome. Great location! There's no central air, which isn't a problem, but our room was hot when we checked in because the window unit wasn't on.

This is a great location near Times Square at a reasonable price. The building is older and a bit quirky but bathrooms have been renovated. We stayed in the autumn and had no complaints, enjoying the old steam radiator heating. However a stay in the summer came with poorly working and noisy window units. I did ask for a room fan which I received promptly which helped with circulating the air. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Just beware that it is an older hotel.

Great historical property in a fantastic location for what we wanted to do. Comfortable and clean room and bed with window AC that was up to the challenge of a humid July day in NYC. Courteous and efficient staff. Wonderful choice if you want to be out in the city and see it and need a good rest at the end of a busy day.

Most likely a hidden gem. You’re right in the heart of Times Square and not paying Times Square prices. The place is quiet, clean and absolutely a bargain.
