Hotel staff was curtious and very helpful! Rooms need some love, lots of minor damage here and there on doors and walls. Our room in particular had a very odd smell, very loud ac unit, toilet keeps running and so many extension cords, it was hard to find outlets for our phones. Cool hotel, great staff, owner just needs to update a lot of things!

I expected a nice stay at the empire hotel before arriving to New York for the first time. When I went in they asked for an id which I provided but I wasn’t over the age they wanted me to be so they declined my stay without a refund. I spent so much money to stay at this hotel and they didn’t want to give me a refund even though I wasn’t going to stay to sleep there. They said that they would give me a “no cancellation fee” though as if that meant anything after they basically stole money from me. This was the worst experience as a first time traveler and if I was able to leave a worse review I would.

No one was answering the phone at the front desk. I went downstairs and ask that someone be sent to the room and check the heat. It was extremely hot is our room. I was told someone would be up shortly. No one came and no one would answer the phone. Not a pleasant night.

During checkin desk front manager said our room has a view. Got to room, the blind is down and cannot be pulled up. Called front desk, sent up service staff, he took a photo and said the desk manager will contact us. No one called back. Too late and tied to deal with this. Morning check out the desk manager said he cannot do anything with this because it is booked thru Expedia. Complain to Expedia he said. So here it is…
