Good- Location. Close to subway transport, Target, lots of restaurants, drug stores and deli's. Across from Lincoln Center. Staff was nice. Bad- Old hotel so don't expect anything modern. Pool is small almost like a lap pool and only open until 7pm. Rooms are small, barely enough space for two people with luggage. Always missing something and had to call front desk for something. There is a $22 a day charge if you don't book the room directly with their reservation system. seemed excessive. (ie:Expedia) Summary- Find a newer hotel.

I don’t recommend this hotel due to poor customer service and the room as you walked in was moldy had to call the front desk to send someone check the ac so it can make the room cool the tiles and floor edges were moldy and the window the pool is a size of a personal pool . I asked to be checked in stepped out to get something to eat they never called me to let me know my room was ready.

Beautiful but no AC

The hotel was beautiful. The food and service was great. The AC in BOTH of the rooms we booked had no AC both rooms got up to 82* it was terribly uncomfortable and they were unable to fix it or move us. On top of that, one of the rooms had dirty towels in it. This was extremely disappointing. It was the hotel our daughter begged to stay at for her 16th birthday trip because Gossip Girl had been filmed there.

Terrible Hotel

I can hardly put into words how bad this hotel is. Shabby, furniture falling apart, Hallways so dark that people were using flashlights to find their rooms. Not a single “amenity “ in the room. No ice bucket, no coffee maker…our room didn’t even have a blow dryer. We were given 3 bath towels, 1 hand towel and two washcloths. I was so upset with the conditions that I wanted to pack up and leave! Tried to call the front desk but the phone didn’t work. I had to go in person and ask two different times to get towels and blow dryer. I can’t imagine how this place stays in business or how it rates 4 stars on Hotels.com. I wish I had read the reviews more carefully. Lesson learned.

This was a horrible hotel, dirty, no towels provided, the sheets weren’t washed, the manager was rude when we asked for our room to be switched because we payed for a city view and got to stare at a brick wall. The only good thing was the location, perfect walking distance to Columbus Circle, Times Square, 5th ave, Central Park, etc. But unless they learn how to clean the rooms, provide towels, and decent customer service I will not be booking with The Empire Hotel again.

Gave this hotel a shot despite some ok reviews. Overall it did the job while we stayed for a few nights. Our room was small which is to be expected with a Manhattan hotel. The room was not cleaned well including not having a fitted sheet for the bed and I pulled a huge clump of hair out of the shower drain when we got there. I would say the room had some obviously wear and tear and rusting on some of the bathroom appliances. The pool area looked bigger in pictures but realistically could only fit a few people comfortably and there are very few chairs to recline in. We chose the hotel in part for the pool on a hot week but it seemed to be heated and swarmed with people so we couldn’t use it much. The patio dining was nice and relaxing and the food was enjoyable. There are a few good dining options around, but not much or anything that blew us away. This hotel is right next to Lincoln center and not far from Central Park and the subway which was a major plus! Starbucks was right downstairs on the corner and then neighborhood felt safe to be in. Overall this hotel fit the bill but not sure we would stay again.
