I loved the friendly staff, food was amazing, and rooms were clean. What I did not like is that the mini refrigerator would not make drinks cold, they were like room temperature and this was in 3 rooms that we had reservations for. The beach area was too small, and pool was not convenient for 3-4 yr olds.

Overall we had a fun time at this resort. It was a nice budget- friendly and family- friendly vacation. Pros: food and drink included; nice pool; clean rooms; clean beach; good service; fun entertainment; washer/dryer available; check-in was easy. Cons: buffet is hit or miss (breakfast was always good though); you have to get up early to make reservations at the other 3 restaurants; we didn't get a chance to try the Mexican restaurant but tried the seafood and Italian restaurants, which were just ok IMHO; beach is small and located right next to a harbor; drinks are weak (but you can ask for shots or pour your own on 2nd floor snack bar); our bathroom sink was clogged; the phone outlets next to the bed didn't work; the internet went out for a day; there was Netflix and other apps available our first night but they stopped working and we were told that they aren't available there at all (but then how did we watch them the first night????) We really enjoyed ourselves despite the resort's shortcomings.

The staff at this property was Exceptional! My daughter and i were there for her 9th birthday and we're both vegan. Once we communicated that to dining room staff (do that early) they went above and beyond to make certain we had food. Carolina in the Kids Club was great. She kept my daughter entertained. Everyone did their best to make us comfortable and we were.

Mexico has become my go to place for vacations but particularly Cancun. This was my first time staying at Occidental Costa Cancun and though thwre were a few bumps it was an overall great stay. Check in took waaaay too long with only one person at the check in counter at 1pm during Spring break. It took almost 2 hours before i actually had a key to my room. HOWEVER, once i had my room i was pleased. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The dining room staff in each of the restaurants didntheir best to accommodate our dietary needs as vegans. Housekeeping did a great job of keeping our room clean and equipped with water, coffee, fresh towels and kept our refrigerator stocked. Bar staff kept freshly made deinks in our hands around the pool and on the beach. The one down side to the hotel is the paper thin walls. I could hear everything happening in the room next to me. Overall it was a great place to stay if you dont go during Spring Break.

The staff was amazingly helpful and accomodating in every aspect of what a resort is expected to provide. Many of the staff go beyond expectations and the atmosphere of "relax and be happy" is just over flowing here. We loved it here. The only "negative" is ...where the front desk staff is very good, sometimes the pace is slow and long lines build up with longer then anticipated waiting
