Great place to come and relax at the pool or beach

Pros: We liked how clean it was. We saw that crews were busy maintaining the building (touchup painting where it was needed) and grounds, pruning the trees
Cons: Pool cleaning could be done a little better. In morning often still some floating debris. Does get cleaned later though.
Location: Located right at the beach, waves not too high, so great for kids around 10 and up. Public bus stop in front to take you to town.
We had a great stay. Very relaxing, great food, room a little smaller than we would have liked, also our room had obstructed view, however, excellent food, great drinks. Highly recommend asking for pillow top mattress, with that you will sleep great. Marco Polo restaurant was wonderful.

We were done so wrong!!

My trip would have been perfect except for the arrival/check in. After working all day Tuesday we flew out Tuesday night so we would be able to check in to the hotel, get settled in and wake up Wednesday ready to hit the beach. When we arrived to the hotel Tuesday night at 11pm we were greeted with some bad news. Our hotel continued to tell us "they had 12 rooms with pipe issues", which I believe is code for... they overbooked. Needless to say, they didn't have a room for us to sleep in. Extremely frustrated, tired and hungry there was no way around the situation. They ended up packing us into a taxi and sending us 10 minutes down the road to a different hotel. This hotel was completely outside so it was unbelievable humid in the room. The bed was so hard and the room smelled like fish. Since we got there so late the only thing to eat was a fake hamburger and French frys. Feeling so defeated, we went to bed in hopes that the next day would be better! After waking up and checking out of the dump they sent us to, we got a taxi back to our original hotel and checked in. It's really a shame this happened because the rest of our trip was phenomenal. The hotel was beautiful and the service was outstanding. However, the first night of our trip outweighs the rest. The GR Solaris failed to communicate with us that we didn't have a room upon our arrival because they claimed "they didn't have our phone number"... which is a lie. I truly would have loved to stay here again in the future

Back 10 years later, and still love it!

Pros: Very clean, good food, and friendly Staff
Cons: Beds are hard
10 Years ago, we visited the GR Solaris and had an amazing time. It has been a goal to get back there, and we finally did. 3 other couples joined us on our journey back. We had a great week! The hotel still looks very nice, and was very clean. There was always someone working, keeping things nice both day and night. There was a problem with the elevators during the week, but that wasn't anything that would ruin this trip. The Staff showed us where the their elevator was, so we were free to use that. The food was good, and there was always a good variety of options. The drinks were good too, but would definitely recommend bringing a travel cup, for both portions and keeping your drink cold. Its crazy how fast a drink will melt in that heat. The only complaint I have, that I also remember from the last time we stayed is the beds are quite hard. Now in their defense, our friends bed was very nice, so guessing we had an older mattress. The entertainment Staff was very friendly and a lot of fun. We had a blast everyday at the pool! The evening shows were very good too. Anyway, we still love this resort, and are already planning on when we can return.

Best value for your money

Pros: Pool and Beach.
Cons: Need some upgrading in the rooms. Brighter light and more electrical outlet for phone charging or other computer charging.
Location: Beautiful Beach and close to downtown Cancun
GR Solaris is good hotel. It need some upgrading on the rooms. Light on the room is very low, wish can be more brighter light. Not a lot of electrical outlet so is hard to charge your phone. The positive note, location is great, beach and pool are very nice. As for foods..can use some work. Some of the meat is very blend..need some seasoning.

Nice Hotel and service!

The Hotel was nice and clean. The beach and the pool were fantastic. The food was ok, but lacked in flavor.

Pros and Co GR Solaris

When you arrive at the airport many people stop you to offer "free" tours and a breakfast, they try to convince you and then sell you a timeshare. After leaving the airport and arriving at the hotel you find the same protocol ... I had to wait 1 hour and a half to deliver the room. The staff knowing that you get exhausted and tired of the trip insist so much until you agree to go to breakfast and to talk ... also tell you that the talk lasts 90minutes; And in short you miss the day (we were from 9am to 4:30 pm). It is a lost day of your vacations. They have highly trained staff (try to convince one person, then another comes, and another until the mind does not give for more) so you do not leave without signing a contract that binds you for at least 3 years. In short the first 2 days the least you do is relax. After that torture, thanks to the staff of the area of ​​food, swimming pool, beach, spa and cleaning of rooms is fixed the time remaining holiday. Thanks to Alan, Jairo, Laura, Fernando, Magui, Cinthia, Melissa, Odelys and other staff. In addition the mattress is extremely hard, it is something you should consider changing. Thanks

Location: A bit far from downtown.
We had a good time. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The ocean view room was wonderful. It was very nice to sit on the balcony and relax listening to the sound of the waves. If you like shopping it's a bit far from downtown and you'll need to take a bus or taxi.
