The staff wereextremely rude and the food was awful. I am having issues getting money refunded that they owe me. It was an awful resort and i would not recommend it to anyone.

We didn't find anything unique about the property. The hotel lobby was extremely hot. They need to keep it air conditioned. They are in need of more staff at the restaurants. The service was terrible at the sit down/table service restaurants.

I was not impressed with the hotel only with their staff. The beach smelled awful, too much seaweed which i know is not there fault but not disclosed either in package. Food was only ok, wifi not included had to pay extra and you can pay to go to other sister hotels but the other hotel reef 28 was awful. Playa Car was very nice and staff was very inviting. Before booking with Coco Reef do the research about the location not happy with location. Also too many kids next time we will choose adult only hotel

Unfortunately indeed the bad smell is due to the seaweed situation we are facing here at the Riviera Maya. All hotels on the coast are suffering this nature problem and every day all hotels and government are trying to find the best way possible to fight this. There are days that the beaches are clean and the water crystal clear and there are days that all seaweed is being processed on the beach. We clean daily but sometimes the seaweed smell is so strong from all over it is impossible to avoid it. We are all aware of that and we regret that this beautiful destination is suffering this situation. But honestly you would have encountered this situation at any hotel in the area. Regarding your comment about the packages that we offer we would like to mention that we have two different packages: Standard and Premium. It is very important for us to offer two different packages as our guests have different needs. Please note that the Premium package includes wifi, access to all our bars, restaurants and access to our sister property The Reef Coco Beach. Regarding the location of the hotel we would like to mention that we are located only four blocks away from 5th Avenue. We are very sorry to know that you did not like our location. This was the first time my husband and I come to Playa del Carmen. We are very upset with the turn out of this hotel. To begin there was a terrible odor the first few days. The employees said it was the sargasso or seaweed. I’m not sure if all the other hotels smell this way, as I repeat this was our first time here. It’s nothing like the pictures that are on Travelocity.com or their website. The minute we walked into the hotel we were greeted with bad attitudes by the front staff. They aren’t very friendly, and really need to smile a little more. We walked in the room and were shocked because they look like a Motel 6 (or worse) with old furniture and the AC made a lot of noise as if there were an insect in the room. The false advertisement upsets me, they need to update their pictures and STOP ripping people off. DO NOT stay at this hotel. You are better off spending a little more of your money for a good experience. Don’t save those few extra dollars by staying at this hotel. As for the food the breakfast was good but lunch and dinner were just ok. For what we paid we feel it should have been better, especially since you are in Mexico. We will take this as a lesson learned.

The comment about our staff is worrying us a bit since we strive to give the guest a friendly and enjoyable stay with staff that gives you a great feeling during your vacation. In general we hear lots of nice comments about our staff but if you have a different experience we definitely regret that someone made you feel uncomfortable. Our rooms are being remodeled and you might have been in one of the rooms that is not entirely ready. The rooms are still decorated a bit old Caribbean style but this is changing soon. 50% of the hotel is ready already. We wish you would have told us your inconveniences during your stay and our people would have taken care of you right away. It is not always easy to please everyone and we are definitely not pretending to be a 5 star luxury property, we offer a great balance between the price and quality. And we want you to feel the same about that. I hope we can change your mind and invite you back with us for some days, on our invitation, and enjoy the hotel as it should. Kind regards,

STAFF IS HORIBBLE SUPER RUDE NO GREETINGS. I HAD BOOKED FOR A WHOLE WEEK I ENDED UP CANCELLING MY ROOMS AND GOING TO A DIFFERENT HOTEL SO UPSET THEY DENY WATER TO MY 11 YEAR OLD.. SO UPSET I COULDNT BELIEVE THAT WE PLANNED THIS TRIP FOR A WHILE AND IMAGINED IT WOULD BE PERFECT AND TO LET THESE RUDE EMPLOYEES RUINED OUR VACATION THAT WE WORKERD FOR IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE..

My first room had no electrical outlets to speak of. It adjoined another room and I could hear everything from that room. I ended up moving to a different room because on the second night there was a rock concert on the beach right next door. Which might as well have been in my room! Don't fall for the premium upgrade! I never received the coffee service in my room, had to ask for the wine that was supposed to be in the room, never got a bath robe. I asked three times for the coffee maker and it never materialized. Food on the buffet was just okay. Good variety and some things were good others not so much. It's very confusing as well. It wasn't until the third day that I discovered that there would make omelets or cook eggs to order on the grill. If you need an inexpensive resort it works but don't expect high end here.

Peaceful location walking distance from 5th Ave.

My friend and I had the best time here! The food was excellent, especially the breakfast buffet. The pool was great, the bartenders were great, and the event MCs were a lot of fun! The ocean view was full of boats, but the sunrise was still beautiful. After walking by other places in Playa del Carmen, I would choose this one again.
