I stayed at Hotel Riu Cancún for 5 nights and everything was excellent from start to finish. The atmosphere was very pleasant perfect for relaxing or enjoying with friends and family. The facilities were spotless, and the staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. This was my third time staying here, and once again, it did not disappoint. Resort is very outdated, key cards are constantly having issues, half working or broken items in room/throughout resort. Very strict to be an adult only all inclusive resort, dress codes, alcohol count restrictions, music was off by the pool by 5pm & they did not allow you have a speaker of your own at the pool, barely any activities or entertainment throughout the day. Food was not even traditionally Mexican nor was it tasteful. Most of staff was also rude and customer service overall was very poor! Will not return to Mexico period!

For an all-inclusive resort this location was good. It was about 25 mins from the Airport. I was able to secure a transportation service which got me to the resort and picked me up upon checkout. The Staff at the front desk were not all that pleasant. However, the Ladies at the SPA and the kind gentlemen and staff at the Kiosk to schedule water activities were Amazing as well as some of the servers in the dining halls. -->Downfalls, TV was limited on English channels (maybe 2-4 English channels and there was a bug (of some sort that freaked me out) that I encountered pulling back the bed sheets on my last day of my stay! (I had two twin Beds.. Which they combined as one) However I only slept on one bed. And I spotted visible mold in a few areas of my room. My balcony view was Amazing THOUGH! Overall, a great place as it pertains to what the resort offers.

When I made the reservation for the RIU, the ad said adults only and all inclusive. What they didn’t say was, the adults wer averaging 20-35 years old, and “all inclusive” meant all the alcohol you can pour down your throat. They even had a bar open 24/7, and in your room, they had a rack of 4 bottles, and you help yourself; no extra charge. The hotel echoed everywhere, and people were screaming all day and night. I have no problem with people having a good time, just let me know up front and give me a chance to decide whether it’s for me or not. All inclusive means food also, the food was mediocre at best, and mainly fed to you via buffet. The first problem I had was, they gave me the wrong room, and they had the correct room in my reservation. When I asked the woman, Betty, at the front desk to change it for me, I got an attitude, and I had to vacate my room, and they wouldn’t let me into the new room until 3pm. Mind you I had prepaid my stay, the new room was ready by 10am, and it was only 2 rooms down from me. I will say, the staff I worked with were very accommodating, such as housekeeping and wait staff in the 2 restaurants I ate in. I’ve been going to Mexico for years, and had great times wherever I stayed. I won’t go to another RIU hotel again. It was expensive $308 per night, and not worth it. I felt like I was in one big frat house, that’s not why I go on vacation.
