I absolutely loved this property! It was warm and inviting as was the staff. If you needed anything all you had to do was ask, very accomadating. Very tasty continental breakfast with hot croissants and coffee every morning. Just a very nice place to stay. Wish there was a St. James everywhere I want to travel to.

Our stay was great! People were nice and informative. Very clean. Nice location. The only issue was a lack of water pressure for a day.

The staff was excellent!! So friendly and accommodating! The hotel was close to Canal St. and to was within walking distance to many attractions. Highly recommend.

Black mold on the shower/bath. We sneezed the whole time we were in that room. The loft if the pillows was huge. No one xould sleep on them! We traveled with kids. Outside our room was a patio, not sure if it wasn't some type of bar, anyway it was a bit noisy. I wouldn't call complimentary breakfat juice and a croissant!

Nice hotel, great location

Pros: close to everything but not in the French Quarter so it is quieter.
Cons: Had fairly new wood flooring and paint but there were big drops of dried paint on the new wood flooring, need attention to details.
Location: great location, easy to get to off Canal Street but is out of direct noise of Quarter and Canal. Great restaurants nearby, Mother's, PSH, Chophouse
Stayed total of 7 days for a local conference. It is of course an older building that has been updated but is very nice. Great restaurants within easy walking distance, street car line nearby, French Quarter across Canal Street. Pedro was great!

Comfortable and Friendly!

Pros: Everything!
Location: The hotel is ideally located, a very short walk from the French Quarter, and only a block or two from the Canal St. streetcar line.
I had difficulty with my travel arrangements, and ended up getting to the St. James Hotel a day later than I'd planned, but I knew from my very first conversation with concierge Ariel that I would be in good hands. All three members of the front desk staff (Daniel, Doug, and Ariel) were lovely, but Ariel in particular really went out of her way to help me make the best of my shortened vacation. From giving me advice on where to go (and how to get there!) to finding me reservations at a nice restaurant on Christmas, she was an angel. The hotel was elderly but beautiful, and extremely well-maintained. My room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The complimentary breakfast of warm croissants and jam was a special surprise and a great way to get the day started. On the whole, I couldn't have been more pleased with my trip!

Stay Away

The room was nice. The breakfast was great the one morning out of four we actually received it. It's in a great location. The bellhop was AMAZING! The valet person that brought me my car on Tuesday June 6 was great. The front desk staff was HORRIBLE, especially the woman that checked me in on June 5, 2017 at approximately 11:15. I was charged for two days of valet and my car was there for 21 hours (I had to return home for an emergency). We called the front desk asking for toilet paper and a croissant card about 6pm on Thursday and we were told there wasn't a maid on duty so we couldn't get any. We had to go buy toilet paper. When I checked out they had tried to charge me for 4 days of valet. After being charged for 2 days and only using 21 hours I had moved my vehicle. This space doesn't give me enough room to explain exactly what happened but it was terrible.
