Disappointed

My first time in Jamaica and I was disappointed. When we arrived to our room it was dirty. We waited over a hour for housekeeping to come clean the room and staff treated as though we were a nuisance for requesting such a thing. Room service food was not eatable just disgusting. The restaurants on the resort were mediocre . Just a huge disappointment

Dear Julia, On behalf of the management and staff, thank you for taking the time to let us know how your vacation was spent with us. Thank you for highlighting the high and low points of your stay, we will forward them to the respective departments. We appreciate feedback of this nature as it allows us to assess key areas for our guests and see how best we can make the applicable improvements to them. Our team members are properly trained by our Human Resources department, and we sincerely apologize for the lack of proper services by those who deviate from the standards. For this, we must say thank you once more for bringing the concerns to our attention so that corrective measures can be taken. We are truly sorry to learn that you did not enjoy our meals. With 3 buffets restaurants, 7 a la carte restaurants and a 22 hours snack bar we want to believe that there is adequate variety for all our guests. We nonetheless take your feedback seriously and will discuss this issue with the F&B department to have it resolved and to prevent a reoccurrence. We know we cannot bring back the past, but we would definitely like an opportunity to improve future visit(s). Once again, our humblest apology for all inconveniences and thanks to our mutual clients for having stayed with us. We sincerely hope that you will return in the near future, to witness all the improvements made, in all areas of the resort.

Excellent choice! Second time!

This is our second time staying at the grand palladium, but first time on the lady Hamilton side. This hotel is amazing. The staff made sure our stay was perfect and we can't thank them enough. Everyone was so friendly and always smiling willing to help with whatever. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary here and the staff went above and beyond with helping my husband surprise me with a private romantic dinner on the beach, it was truly the highlight of our stay.... thank you for making our stay so special, it's one that we'll never forget. A special thanks to Lesbert who was our server for our romantic dinner , you're truly an amazing person. A special thank you to Jennifer who made sure our room was spotless each day . We loved coming in and seeing what you created with our towels. To the entire staff at the grand palladium lady Hamilton, than you !!! We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we'll definitely be back soon, yeah mon. Oh I almost forgot that humongous inviting pool. It was breathtaking! The landscape was gorgeous. Thanks again!!!

Nice hotel but not nice staff

The property is very nice however most of the staff were quite unfriendly and borderline rude. We experienced a problem with plumbing and it took a follow up call after 4 hours to get moved to another room. Shando, Ricardo, Stephanie(infinity bar) and Yolanda at the pool/beach bar made the difference in our stay. More staff like these four individuals and your property would be a 5.

Service response

Room service never answered phone after numerous attempts. Shuttle service slow to respond. Resort seemed overwhelmed when the resort had a full house.

Nice hotel but..

Pros: I loved the main pool; they had lots of bars of which my boyfriend and I took every advantage; the bed was very comfortable; and the sports bar
Cons: the rooms, particularly the bathrooms, need improvement
Location: Location was perfect; however, all of our needs were provided for so we did not leave the hotel for extra activities.
it was a beautiful hotel, spectacular view from the main pool (by the way the main pool was humongous!!!), however, I think the rooms need major upgrade. The toilet seat creaked every time it was lifted. They did not provide toothpaste let alone toothbrush; my boyfriend had to ask one of his friends to bring us toothpaste, luckily we had brought toothbrush. The food was not the best I have eaten, however, they had quite a variety to choose from. The sports bar was off the hook!!! we spent most of the time there. On the whole, it was a good experience, I would definitely return.

Pros: the beaches, the adults only pool, we ate at three different restaurant and enjoyed all of them
Cons: show at night- we were here in 2009 and the same shows are still going on
Location: stayed at resort
this was our second time back and was as great as the first had a wonderful time

Hotel Management

Pros: Pretty much the Breakfast and Pool Drinks
Cons: Everything!!! Management overall...The Pool cleaniness, Better food & variety, cleaner rooms ( found a Roach by the TV counter), long wait to check in
Location: No complaint, I was mostly in the Resort with the exception of 1 day
I'm extremely disappointed after my family and I were really looking forward to this vacation. I went to Ocho Rios 2 years ago and stayed at the Riu Hotel and it was cheaper, Staff were great and the food was amazing!!! This Vacation cost us overall more than $4,000 and I could not wait to come back home.

3rd Trip to Lady Hamilton

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, all inclusive
Cons: No free Internet, restuarants don't have a/c but nice breezes blow
Gonna make this short and sweet. We have traveled all over the world and can choose to stay almost anywhere. This was our 3rd visit to Lady Hamilton. There will be a 4th, 5th, 6th, etc!! 'Nuff said?!

This hotel is not worth the money

Cons: Nothing close, poor beach, poor service
The Grand Palladium has very beautiful grounds, but that was the extent of the decency of this hotel. There were several issues we had during our stay. There were 7 of us in our party, 5 adults and 2 children. We had 3 rooms between us. You would think they would put us all in the same building. No. When we checked in 2 rooms were in the same building with the 3rd room being on the other side of the resort. I was the one with the room far away from the rest of the family. After explaining to them that I was a single young female that would rather stay near her family they still refused to put us in the same building stating that the hotel was completely full. (Which it obviously was not. But almost no one working at that hotel is concerned with customer service.) In the end after protesting several times, the woman at the front desk moved me to a building next door to the one my family was in. At check in they also explained their ridiculous towel card policy. You get 1 towel card per guest at the hotel. To get a beach towel you have to go to one of the stations and trade it in. Throughout your stay you can either trade for a new clean towel or a card. Only problem is when they run out of cards you're stuck carrying around a bulky towel wherever you go. Oh, and don't lose the towel or the card, they charge you $20 for each lost card/towel. Rooms There are over 20 buildings on the Lady Hamilton side of the hotel, and none of the guest buildings have elevators. You kind of get used to this fact, but in 80 degree weather and 80% humidity, walking back and forth between your room and the other buildings and up and down the stairs can be a real pain. The individual rooms on their own are very nice at first glance. However once you've stayed for one night you start to see the flaws. First off when I got my room, the key didn’t work. After 4 trips back up to the front desk to fix this they had to replace the lock in the door, which took over an hour to get done. After I final got into the room, it was stuffy and smelled like mildew. The pull out sofa had mold and a mildew smell. Along with that there were ants in my bathroom. So it was impossible to leave anything on the counter without having ants all over your belongings. The shower was nice and spacious, but the downside to this is apparently they don't make doors large enough to completely block the shower. On top of that the shower head faces the door, so no matter what you do you're going to have a pool of water on the floor when you get out. This situation led to the youngest in our party slipping and hitting their head on the showers edge due to the wet floor. You never get sufficient bath towels. One day you'll have a wash cloth with no large towels or else large towels with no wash cloth or floor towel. When we asked the maid for more towels they say "oh we ran out". How do you run out of towels at a hotel?? Food The food was average at best. They boast having 10+ restaurants on site; however you're fortunate if you can find more than one open at a time actually serving food and beverages. The buffets were terrible. They are full of flies and bugs. At one of the meals, mid bite I saw a bug crawling on my plate. Needless to say I didn’t eat at that buffet again. And from that point on it was hard to eat at any of the restaurants without being concerned about bugs in my food. Even the Jamaican food was not authentic Jamaican food! (My family is from there, so I'm used to good Jamaican food!) Service The service was TERRIBLE! Practically everyone had a horrible attitude. Everyone I dealt with at the front desk was rude! When you walk up to the desk no one acknowledges you're even standing there until they finish their personal conversations or decide they're ready to do their jobs. And when they finally do respond it seems like you're bothering them no matter what you say. The other workers that don't have an attitude are trying to hit on you. I actually had one of the workers ask if he could call me at my room?! Majority of the workers were too busy playing and talking to each other to help the customer. The Maids and a few servers were the only ones that were actually friendly. Location The resort is very secluded. If you are hoping to go into town at all during your stay, pick another hotel! My mother is from Jamaica, so we made multiple trips into town and the location of this resort was very inconvenient for that. The hotel is about 30 minutes from Montego Bay. The resort charges $30 for 2 people to go into downtown Lucea, to go into downtown Montego Bay the cost is $100. You can catch the local bus for less than $2 per person each way. If you plan to spend all of your time at the hotel then this may not be a big issue for you. Here are a few other things that were unsatisfactory with our stay: 1. Two in our party got sick and were unable to come down to eat. The hotel has a policy that they don't allow you to take food away from the restaurants. Even when we explained the situation they refused to make an exception, showing no sympathy. We spoke to a manager about this issue, he too refused to help and had an attitude of it basically being our fault that we got sick (Maybe if your hotel was a little more sanitary we wouldn't have gotten sick!). The manager above him said he could make an allowance but each time we went down we had to call up to him to get approval to take food away. 2. The beaches were very small and rocky. When we tried to do the water sports you wait forever and no one can tell you how long the wait will be. 3. On their website they pride themselves on having a wide array of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Again we were misled. They don’t have a wide selection of non-alcoholic drinks, there are two choices. There is also no consistency in the alcoholic beverages. If you order the same drink at the same hotel at any of their restaurants, you will get a drink that tastes nothing like what you ordered. All in all they offered few apologies for all of the many issues we had. Nothing was offered to try and make up for the many problems during our stay. Even a sincere apology would have been nice. We are still working through many of these issues and the attitude of the staff with the resort.
