I chose Ocean Coral Spring in Jamaica to celebrate my 50th birthday, expecting a memorable experience. Unfortunately, due to poor communication, lack of organization, and disappointing customer service, my celebration was completely ruined.
I originally booked directly through the hotel’s website and joined their Club H10 membership, which promised perks such as a room upgrade and airport shuttle. Days before arrival, my credit card was never charged, and multiple attempts to contact the resort went unanswered due to non-working phone lines. Emails were also ignored. Because I was unsure whether my reservation was secure, I had to rebook through a third-party site. In both reservations, I requested a room upgrade, birthday decorations, and shuttle service.
The day before arrival, I finally received an email asking if I still needed both rooms, which showed how disorganized the process was. Upon arrival shortly before 3:00 p.m., I was given a device to notify me when my room was ready. After waiting over an hour with no alert, I had to return to the front desk myself. When I asked if there would be any compensation for the delay, I was told that check-in is between 3:00–4:00 p.m., which felt dismissive.
My restaurant reservation and birthday arrangements were not honored. I was told the restaurant was closed and that I would need to find another option on my own. When I finally entered the room, there were no birthday decorations and no upgrade as promised.
