Also hated that I had to pay this at check in and not as part of my entire booking on Expedia - this limited my personal spending budget on the actual trip to NYC when I like to pre book hotels in advance and get that cost out of the way. The experience with the staff was just fine. I do wish we got a smile at least once or any sort of friendly demeanour but hey, who wouldn't be burnt out working in New York? Rooms were clean but I've been in much cleaner hotels. Bathroom could've used some extra love. "
