I was fully prepared to stay in a great location in NYC for a good price with lots of charm. BUT... First of all the hotel lobby was filled with what looked like random people trying to stay warm, spread out all over the seating areas. Weren't even sure they were customers. Also, when given my first room the floor was wet. Got my socks wet after a long day of travel, no fun. The second room had a broken heater (NYC IN JANUARY). So, what I got were two room options presented to me that were totally unacceptable. Such poor setup and conditions that I refused to stay and walked across the street to book another hotel. To put it in plain words, they give you two towels. Wash cloths and hand towels are "upon request". Until updates are made, this hotel could be classified as a hostel. It certainly isn't acceptable for what else is in the area for the same price. The staff was amazing and sympathetic. I have to assume I am not the only one complaining. They all know this as I am sure they deal with it on a daily basis.

We had a cockroach in our room. I caught it and covered it for the hotel to collect. I had to approach management twice to be told if they move us to another room they could not guarantee it would be roach free! We would have to pack the room up, come back at 1600, no care, apology nor empathy. I was given a slip to email senior management. Whereby a temp resolve was met. However during the email conversation the hotel stated we couldn’t use the room to shower until 2000, as they had someone going into the room!!! This no fumigation prior to the next guest. After returning home , I contacted Expedia, who required complete involvement and time from me, reliving the experience. Expedia didn’t feel any form of reimbursement from them was necessary and simply offered a voucher to travel with them again. What concerned no neither the hotel or Expedia seemed shocked and no explanation of what was going to happen to ensure the hotel was roach free. Such a let down for a 5 night trip for my daughter’s 16th birthday. She certainly won’t forget her 16th birthday now!

We requested a quiet room location when we booked. I reminded receptionist when we checked in. Instead, she gave us a room directly across from the construction site. Noise was extreme! All night long, workers, cranes, banging, trucks, of course sirens and horns. Complained and she moved us to a slightly better room, larger and quieter, but still very noisy. Water in sink did not go down drain and toilet needed 5 flushes to make TP, etc go down. Stay away!

My stay at Paramount was fine, but nothing to write home about. The best part of it is the location. If you're going to New York for Broadway, this is located in the best spot. Right in the middle of everything. However, if you're there for other things or maybe just one show (I went for a week of seeing as many shows as I could so it was nice for that) then you will probably not like being in the middle of all the theatre district craziness. As for the hotel, the lobby was the best part. It was big and beautiful, had a nice bar (and you're given drink discounts upon checking in) and live music. There is also a cafe/restaurant attached for snacks and sandwiches and drinks pre-show which was great. Now for the rooms... SO SMALL. I know this is New York, but oh my god the room was so small. I come to NYC often and this was quite possibly the smallest and most plain/basic room I have every stayed in. It was clean, and had AC, but thats about all it had going for it. The bathroom was oddly big but reminded me of a prison cell with the metal sink and odd vibes. If you're one of those people who comes to New York to play and barely stay in the room, then you might not care. But as one of those people myself, this was still lacking the basic amount of comfort and niceness I get elsewhere. I will not be staying here again.

Nice hotel option if you want to be super-close to the Theater District / Times Square area. The lobby decor is super-modern leaning towards nightclub. Plenty of lounge space to chill in before heading out to the city. Note that music will be playing almost all the time, sometimes loudly, so not always chill-ambient going on. A 2nd-floor balcony surrounds the lobby, but half of it is closed off. If you book, you're best to call ahead on the exact room number. If it ends in -40 or -41, your room will share a wall with the maintenance closet and elevator commotion, so the doors are shutting regularly (even thru midnight for some reason) and it gets annoying. Any other room will be a better choice. Also, the rooms ending in -20 and -21 face the elevator. Unsure if the commotion is as an issue for those rooms. The room's windows can be opened but you have to keep it open with an insert somehow. Overall a nice choice if you're okay with the above and focus on getting out anyway. Enjoy New York!
