Pros: The only good thing about this hotel is that it's located on a beautiful beach.
Cons: Staff needs to remember that their job title is HOSPITALITY! That means you do whatever you can to accommodate your guests.
Location: Very unsafe, don't leave the resort.
My wife and myself are avid travelers and we try to take at least two trips a year. This year we decided to go outside of the US for a 2nd time (1st time being Turks and Caicos) and it was a horrible experience. not only were the people rude and unwelcoming, the overall feeling we had was uncomfortable. The men here just stare and ask obnoxious questions, the hotel staff was completely unwilling to help us and the room was terrible. I requested a king room and got a double bed room which they "could not" change. Also, I asked for help setting up a taxi back to the airport for my departure in two days and no one could help me. All they kept stating was "that's a different company, we're just the hotel." Never in our life have we gone to a place so poorly conducted in hospitality. The stay was so horrendous that we checked out the very next day and flew back to the greatest country in the world! Not only would I not recommend this hotel, but unless you are going as a group (and not a group of only females) I would recommend you not go to Cancun. we honestly felt safer walking around Brooklyn, NY alone than we did here. Almost $1,000 down the drain.

Night entertainment in lobby lounge left alot to desire. Some nights no entertainment at all. Faucets in bath room hard to close. Drip drip drip! Marble steps need more hand rails for handicapped people. Buffett a little expensive.

Terrible experience

We showed up and there was still feces in the toilet from the last people who stayed, I just flushed it down and said nothing. Then, the next night the two of us order late night room service and get the WORST food poisoning we have ever had that ruined two days of our trip. To top it all off, while we are both throwing up in the bathroom, HUGE cockroaches keep coming out from under the sink area, where we are kneeling. Our room is infested with bugs. The next morning we wake up and ask someone at the front desk if we can switch rooms, after telling her about our terrible night... she does not even apologize, but eventually changes our room (the first bit of customer service we had all week). Then, as we are leaving, our flight got delayed and we asked if we could stay just one more hour past check out and they tell us it will be $50 USD.. oh and also, they still charged us for the food. absolutely zero help / worst customer service I have ever encountered. They all seem really nice and decent until something bad happens. I read many bad reviews before I came here, but I am a broke college student and they were giving a good deal at the time so I had to take it. I told myself a lot of people can be pretty high-maintenance, I bet this place isn't nearly as bad as it seems. Boy was I wrong. I could only afford to be there for 4.5 days and two were absolutely destroyed from their food, and left me with a really bad stomach ache and feeling the rest of my short time there.

Dirty and no functioning toilet

The hotel rooms are extremely old and disgusting. Our toilet did not work and the sink was always clogged. It's really not worth it to go all the way to Mexico and have your trip ruined because of unsanitary conditions. I got sick because of it. Yes the hotel has access to the beautiful ocean but so do all of the hotels in Cancun. Stay somewhere else.

Good location but terrible service

Even though this hotel is in a good location, i would not recommend. The reception desk is terrible. It seems you are bothering them when asking questions. They have a forced smile when talking to you. My room had a musty smell and was not clean. I ask the reception desk person if all rooms smelled and he said yes. He said this is because of the humidity (really). Because it was raining, there was leaks everywhere in the hotel (elevator, hallways and restaurant). Towels were put on the floor where the leaks were and were not changed frequently. Do not stay on the 8th floor.

Good hotel, beautiful beach!

Pros: The view was amazing. The beach was very clean and walkable. The room as clean and the staff was for the most part spot on.
Cons: The food, outside of the morning buffet, the food left something to be desired, it is certainly a step down from the rest of the hotel.
Location: The hotel is right in the Hotel Zone, which is were all of the big night clubs and shopping are located. Very walkable area.
The Krystal Cancun is a nice hotel, not super fancy, but is reasonable for the price and is in a location that allows you to walk to so much more. The hotel is clean, a little weather beaten in areas, but the staff was working on that during our stay. The hotel food leaves a little something to be desired, the buffet for breakfast is probably the only thing that you need to eat at the hotel, don't bother with room service, the menu is limited, the food was sub-par, and the staff was rude. There are a ton of decent restaurants in walking distance, there is a book in the room, pass up the chains, and you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of food in Cancun. We stayed in a romantic room, and what a view, up there on the top of my list, and I have traveled the beaches of the world. There were some staff that stood out above the rest on our trip, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable; Julio our bellhop was on the spot and super helpful, he went above and beyond his duties to welcome us, recommended a great restaurant and did everything with a smile on his face, Vendy was a server who was on the spot every time, polite beyond words, Hugo and Victor (?) were the bartenders at the far poolside bar, really good guys, friendly, top-notch service. Elena our housekeeper was wonderful, and made sure that our room as always spotless, and it was. In all, the Krystal is a nice mid-level hotel that met all of our expectations.

Good location, food and service fair but be aware of tme share scam

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy
InAug. 2012, we visited Cancun and stayed in Krystal for a week. The location is good and food in our all inclusive plan was OK. Unfortunately we got enticed into their fradulent time share plan with the offer of some freebies and nicety. The plan was presented to us as an investment plan and the management kept hounding us to sign it. We were neither allowed time to diligently research it or review the contract. To my dismay, later internet search prooved we are not the only victims who was duped of thousands of dollars and on top of it we are being harassed everyday for the installment. Be aware of any such enticing offers at Krystal.
