Everything was wonderful up until the very last day. My husband and I got stuck there due to the cartel and military going at it. The hotel was kind enough to let us stay until we were able to leave and for that I’m grateful.

I think what stood out the most was how attentive the staff was at every area of the hotel, from the check-in, to wait staff, housekeeping and pool attendants. Everyone looked like they enjoyed working at Velas and passed that energy to every vacationer.

staff was very courteous. The room was in need of repairs (loose bathroom fauset, bathroom door hinge loose, Scratches on wood closet doors. Buffet roof needs repair. The resort is showing it's age.
