Right place to be mistreated and unfairly charged

I’ve been a client of Expedia and hotels.com for almost 10 years and this was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel booked through them. 1- If you see a $200 credit per day, it actually means you have 65% discount for spa, tours and hair salon services. However, a nail polish is $90. So not worth at all. By the way, it took me 3 days to discover how to use this credit, nobody gives you information. 2- We had a reservation at restaurant Toro, we got there on time our name was not in the list. First attitude of the hostess was to say I can’t do anything and imply we were lying. 30 minutes of back-and-forth we got seated with help of the person who registered our family for the dinner, but the worst part was 3 employees insinuating we were lying while our children were sitting, hungry and waiting. 3- Worst part was my son getting sick and vomiting for 2 days. He got sick into this resort can be food or swallowing some water from the pool, it doesn’t matter he got sick here. He vomited in the pool deck, we called the staff to clean it up. Nobody ever reached out to us to ask about his health or to offer any help. Surprisingly the hotel got interested on his health conditions when we ask kids to replace the bedsheets because he felt sick over the bed and they need replacements. This is when the nightmare starts and the hotel calls me to charge $296 for damaging hotel property. What? Dirty sheet due to kid sickness caused by the hotel is property damage?

The staff at Hard Rock Hotel Cancun were great—very friendly and welcoming. The food was okay overall. Lunch was solid with classic options like pizza and burgers, and the seafood was a nice touch. Dinner had great restaurant choices, but be prepared to wait 1–2 hours during peak times. Breakfast was the weakest meal, and the dining area was always hot and uncomfortable. The Roxity Kids Club was the highlight for us. Being able to drop off our 4-year-old gave us some quality time to relax as a couple, and our child really enjoyed it. Abby and Andy were awesome host and deserve recognition. Big downside: the timeshare sales pressure. From check-in to check-out, we were constantly approached. It was extremely persistent and made us uncomfortable. Sadly, this alone would stop us from coming back.

Unfortunately, the hotel did not meet my expectations. The rooms are quite small. We booked a double room, and the beds were advertised as queen size but were actually full size, making it uncomfortable to share with a partner. There is also a jacuzzi located in the same room, with barely one foot of space from the bed, which felt impractical and uncomfortable. The food throughout the resort was very basic, with no dishes that stood out or that I would want to have again. At El Toro, the wait time to be seated was hours, and once inside, the meats were served cold and overly salty. The Italian restaurant offered a very limited menu; the pasta lacked flavor, and the salmon was completely bland. The Zen restaurant was similarly underwhelming, with basic presentation and nothing remarkable in terms of taste. The pool area on the lower level is quite small, and the floor near the bar area is slippery. My husband even had a minor accident when a loose screw from a chair injured his foot. While the on-site paramedic attended to him promptly, it was still concerning. Additionally, the open bar closes at 1:00 a.m., which felt early compared to other resorts we have visited. Overall, I was disappointed with both the food and the accommodations, and I would not choose to return.
