"Hotel update."
Great remodel update thru the whole hotel. Miss the free breakfast buffet though. Pool area noisy with LOTS of kids and outside construction. Still our choice when staying in the San Diego area, away from the usual tourist spots.

"Great windows!"
The room met my need for comfort and cleanliness. I particularly liked the fact that the windows opened but were then locked in place so no one could break in. This allowed me to keep them open all night and not have to deal with an air conditioner. What I liked least was the thinness of the walls.

"Up to date, clean hotel. "
Loved the secure (AND FREE!!!) underground parking garage - 90% of the San Diego hotels charge you to park AND most of those are not in a secure lot. Even though the fitness center hours were listed as 5:30 am- I was able to access earlier (5 am) and breakfast was even ready before the scheduled time. Great selection of hot foods - biscuits and gravy, eggs - scrambled for weekday, omelets on weekend, choice of regular or turkey sausage, hot cinnamon rolls as well as the usual variety of cold breakfast foods. Bed was super comfy with both firm and soft pillows

The Pearl Hotel

"good value, but tragically hip"
In it's desperate attempt to be hip, The Pearl forgets some of the standard sophistication generally seen in hotels of all quality today. My first biggest disappointment was the lack of soap in the room for my full 5-day stay. Soap is an amenity that even the scummiest of places provide, but here the staff suggested I go buy my own since they were out. Secondly, the restaurant staff at the hotel were clueless and clearly untrained in how to seat people. I was told I could not be sat at a two-top being just a single, which is unheard of; then the hostess told me to stand at the host station and wait for a bar stool while other customers swooped into empty stools directly at the bar. I ended up leaving. Finally, the rooms are nice, but there are some things that have not been updated since the mid-century, such as the shower, plumbing system as a whole, and the a/c (whose loudness is great for drowning out the annoying event noise- movie night is a great idea, but they clearly are not equipped to host so many people and allow people to sit directly against guest room walls, another tribute to the flaky staff).

"walking distance to old town san diego"
Room was very clean and updated. Walking distance to old town and very short drive to airport. Noise level from people in room above was a little loud at times. Choung, the front desk clerk was very nice and helpful. Parking garage was very small so thank goodness we drove a smaller car. overall a decent place.

"Convenient location to stay in San Diego"
My stay at Pacific Inn and Suites was a great experience. This motel is located just across the waterfront and walking distance from little Italy where one can find a variety of places to eat. There is Little Italy trolley station just behind the motel from where one can take the trolley to downtown. This motel is one of the finest budget places for bed. Very clean room, nice beds, and clean bathroom. Toiletries are better than I have found in other similar places. Manager and staff are friendly and welcoming. Daytime manager was nice to give us some recreational info e.g the trolley ride. I would recommend staying here anytime you are in San Diego.
