Haywood Park Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel
"The elevators are down, so if you have a room higher than the second floor, good luck carrying your luggage up there. The room key cards stopped working after a few hours, so you will quickly get used to climbing up and down and old musky staircase to get in your room. During night hours, the entire hotel has one employee working the front desk, working valet, and working security. The employee was very pleasant and as helpful as he could possibly be, but that doesn't change the fact and consequences of the hotel being tremendously understaffed. It seems like this was a large historic building restoration project that ran out of money and is just staying open as long as they legally can. At one point I was paying for street parking and valet parking at the same time because the valet had caused me to be repeatedly late for meetings. I really wanted to like this place, especially at the price, but I didn't sleep very well and virtually every service offered by the hotel is in disrepair. You're likely better off staying in a budget chain hotel and mile or 2 away."
