Grove Park

If you want a great view book the extremely expensive room. We book premium view for around $360. The view was not premium and we were put on the third floor of the convention wing.

Haven from the storm

Pros: The huge stone fireplaces took the chill off the night air, while we sipped wine and relaxed after a day of touring
Cons: I can't think how it could be more perfect.
Location: We toured Biltmore House and Antler Village, but mostly enjoyed the Inn's restaurants, spa, and golf course.
We detoured to Asheville while Hurricane Matthew was threatening the coast of Florida. Our stay at the Grove Park was a glorious Experience. The views are magnificent

A not so hidden gem in Western NC

Pros: The main hall with the huge fireplaces was a huge attraction and we had a blast sitting in the rocking chairs for a time enjoying the hot chocolate!
Cons: Driving in and out was a challenge. There is only so much room and the valets are working hard, but that was the largest downside.
Location: Easy to get to and easy to find, just minutes outside of Asheville. Our one rainless day we spent downtown, art museum, and the Biltmore at night.
Our trip was wonderful but tainted by a bout of bad weather. We arrived in rain and darkness and left and rain a few days later so I expect the larger beauty of this facility and its grounds we missed. The hotel itself is grand, steeped in history and they flaunt that proudly. It is part of the fabric and the draw of the Inn and just fascinating. Our room was cozy and comfortable and we had a great view across the golf course to the mountains, when it wasn't raining. We had a good meal at Edison's, a pub, a little pricey for burgers, and a few snacks at the cafe. The hotel was decked out for the holidays, and if the rain had been snow, it would have been a perfect postcard experience on many levels. There was an annual gingerbread house competition earlier and all of the entries, along with dozens of trees lined the hallways throughout the main floor. We saw them all. It would be hard to overstate how much we enjoyed this hotel and we are already planning to return.

What a beautiful hotel!!

Pros: Everyone was so helpful. It was like staying at a great European hotel.
Cons: The first night it took about 1/2 hour to get our car. We were told to call down to the valet 10 minutes before....
Location: Asheville, the River Arts District, the Folk Art Center, the Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village are just a few of the artsy things to do.
Old world charm. Beautiful grounds. Wonderful staff. We could not have been happier. Our biggest regret was that we spent all of our time visiting art galleries and studios and did not spend more time enjoying the facilities at the hotel. We had a problem with our shower, and it was repaired quickly. We were offered another room. We had dinner at Vue 1913, and the food and service were top notch. Locksly, our waiter, was adorable. We would definitely recommend dinner here.

Beautiful place to stay

Pros: The spa was wonderful in every way possible. The building was beautiful. The staff was very helpful. The atmosphere was great.
Cons: Not enough seating outside that wasn't part of dining services. Housekeeping did a poor job of restocking the room every day. Hotel maps are lacking.
Location: Biltmore Estate, shopping in Asheville, plenty of wonderful restaurants, golfing, parks.
We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. There were plenty of dining options that were all good. Food prices were on the expensive side, except for the marketplace which had coffee and pastries. My husband enjoyed the golf course and said the Club House was helpful. His clubs were stored there for his convenience. I thoroughly enjoyed the spa and it's many amenities. The views were absolutely beautiful. The history of the Inn was very interesting. On the negative side was our experience with housekeeping. After the first day we never received another bathmat. The toiletries were not restocked. We ran out of toilet paper on the last day. I think a simple check list would have fixed these issues. The rooms in the historic wing are small but very nice. The elevators in the historic wing don't always run, you have to check the schedule. That was at times inconvenient. I also think that it was a bit much to have to pay for parking. As a guest of the hotel, I think they should waive the $15 per night fee. It made us feel like they were going overboard with fees.
