What stood out for me was that they seemed very glad that we were there, even though they were very busy and they were able to treat us like individuals. One of the concierge staff walked us to our room the first day and went over the map of the property and the ways to find things and make sure we had reservations for some special dinners And show of Caribbean music. There was children’s karaoke one night in the bar before the adults started their evening at it was amazing; I thought the property was very welcoming to families, and there were lots of things for kids to do throughout the place.

The room was very clean and they kept it stocked with the bottled water and beverages that we requested. The housekeeper was available and very friendly and made sure that she asked about any special instructions each day. The food was remarkable, especially the Thanksgiving day buffet, which really surprise me with how good it was. Everyone in the staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed and had a wonderful time.

Property/ rooms were very clean. But NO night entertainment, only Karaoke at night for only about an hour at a "sports bar" with in the property. Day time pool area very boring. No music, only a game or two with pool staff a day. Only main pool is the only one that "cracks". Restaurants within property require reservation, you cant just walk in and eat. Only at the international buffet which is where we ate everyday because its pretty annoying to have to wait for a time to eat, specially when you have activities planned and you just want to arrive and grab a bite. Sports bar is the only option when buffet is closed and takes them about an hour just to get a salad out with mozzarella sticks. SIMPLY NOT A RESORT FOR YOUNGER CROWD. ALOT OF older people and kids. Wont be staying here again.

I would not recommend Royal Sand Resort if you are looking for a fun, lively vacation. The rooms are very old and in need of renovation. There is little to no entertainment, making the atmosphere quite dull. The food options are extremely limited, you need to make reservations far in advance just to get into the restaurants, and some food items even come with an extra charge, which is disappointing for an “all-inclusive” resort. The beverages are poor quality and not enjoyable. The resort seems to be catered mostly to an older crowd, so if you are young and looking for energy, activities, or nightlife, this is not the hotel for you. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not worth the price.

The food was just ok. The bacon was clumped together in a big pile. I did not enjoy the food. Could have been better. The waiters were inattentive and service was hard to receive by the pool. There was one guy at the bar who was great. All the other waiters were rude or lacked service. Not sure I would come back to this resort.

First, I want to recognize the bartenders at the main pool bar. They are outstanding bartenders and genuinely kind individuals. They truly care about guests and go above and beyond to make your experience at the Royal Sands memorable. They deserve a raise or promotion. However, I was very disappointed with the persistent attempts to get me to attend your 90-minute presentation for your club or membership. One day, I received a call in my room, and when I didn’t answer, someone knocked on my door while my wife was trying to rest. Later, I was approached again in the pool, even after I had already declined. About an hour later, yet another person came over to speak with me while I was relaxing poolside, followed by a text message to my phone. And this was just one of the seven days of my stay. Is this level of persistence really necessary?

I don’t think this is exclusive to the Royal Sands but every resort in Cancun. They’re much too massive. My room was switched halfway through my vacation and not all elevators lead to the same places so there was lots of getting lost and 25 min treks to said rooms. They claimed to have four restaurants but it’s one with a curtain that includes 2 of the rsvp ones. And the rsvp ones were not ‘available” because members had booked up the spots but when I peaked behind the comical curtain it was also empty. They sell you on a time share to become a member of their hotel club pretty early on with the lure of coupons if you’re in a couple and the presentation was about 90 mins. Also all inclusive is not truly all inclusive, you must have on your red wrist band showing people you aren’t a member at all times and your card key along with your crazy ass room number (P4613A) to eat or drink ANYTHING. It’s very annoying. The food was sad, I had 3 shrimp dishes that had hard overcooked fish and by the end we were leaving to the center of town for real food. Their better items are hidden behind a paywall. Regardless the staff was lovely and overworked, a white man was yelling to them about Tofu and it was rude. This (along with a lot of other resorts here) are catered to retirees or large families and I am neither. The swim up bar was nice. The seaweed made the ocean inaccessible but not their fault. 3/5

I like Royal Cancún because it’s close to the hotel and large room for 5 family members with the grown ups. Tow rooms connected in the Villa were so big, with extra space and extra pull out bed for more than 4 adults with one kid. However, there were no bell men to carry our luggage and limited dining places, only bar, snack places. They only have a Mexican place where you have to walk outside of main building in the hot weather and another one was just buffet place where they changed the theme for every dinner. That was it for dinner. Also so much seaweed in front the hotel beach, impossible to swim in the ocean.
