"Nice resort but missing something overall"
This was a very nice resort but there was just something overall that made us feel like we didn't get our full value. But we can't compare to other hotels in Cancun because this was our first time in Mexico. But for about the same price we could have stayed at the JW or Ritz Carlton and the VDP is just not quite at that same level. Maybe it was just pricing and availability and timing - we booked late. But overall the Villas del Palmar is a nice resort. Plenty of very good restaurants to choose from, a calendar full of pool/beach activities, and very nice and attentive staff. The hotel room was different than the online photos but still very nice. The hammocks were a huge plus! The timeshare sales people were a little pushy but we opted out and after a couple days they stopped calling. We went during spring break but we never felt like it was crowded or never had to wait long at any of the onsite restaurants. I heard that was different over in the hotel zone area which VDP is not in the same area, it is off by itself down a long secluded road. Maybe we should have ventured out to explore the touristy beach area of Cancun but we didn't, I feel that scene should be saved for our frequent FL trips, but while in Cancun we wanted to do real Mexico things. We visited Chicken Itza and another small historical town and we went swimming in a cenote and wanted to visit Isle Mujeres and snorkel at the reef but my daughter got sick so had to forego another excursion.

"Quiet hotel right on beach."
Inside hotel had a foul odor then entire time visiting. Very low water pressure. Bathroom floor puddles when showering. No hot tub at this location. The staff was very nice. Breakfast was very good. Good location, walking distance to nightlife area and right on the beach. Could use more activities/entertainment.

Night entertainment in lobby lounge left alot to desire. Some nights no entertainment at all. Faucets in bath room hard to close. Drip drip drip! Marble steps need more hand rails for handicapped people. Buffett a little expensive.

"Happy with Hotel experience."
We booked a basic room, but upon arrival asked if we could upgrade to an ocean view room. We were pleased with the room with a gorgeous view for only $30 dollars more. The staff was very helpful and personable. Especially Eric. We ate a nice dinner at hotel restaurant and enjoyed the hotel salsa band very much. Thank you for a great end to our vacation!

"Amazing Hotel and Location"
My boyfriend & I visited Ocean Dream in february 2017, had a blast & i can say it was the best trip/experience I have ever had! The front of the hotel was beautiful(security gate at entrance)it is a little smaller then surrounding hotels, for us the size was perfect. Heading to check in, hotel staff was amazing socializing with us giving us ideas of activities & sights to see (relied on 2 of the hotel staff in particular). You CAN NOT miss the gorgeous view from the lobby, perfect view of 1 of the 2 infinity pools flowing into ocean. I was surprised at the small size of the elevator, using both the stairs & elevator helped and had no probs. room view was amazing, sliding glass doors that open up like your actually right on the beach. we had a kitchenette in our room (recommend!) had asked for a king bed but got 2 doubles (ended up working better). The location is perfect walking distance to coco bongo/tons of shops and restaurants, convenient store around corner, what we couldn't walk we took a taxi, not expensive since you are so close to everything. The pools were amazing w/ direct access to beach with security 24/7 at entrance gates. Hot tub was down water cold, no big deal we weren't there for the hot tub. Got locked out of my safe 2x one time at 3am, they sent someone immediately. Headed to dinner one night the ac was leaking by the time we got back it was fixed! We loved it so much i have already booked a 12 day stay here again next year! Highly recommend!

"Definitely a Riu Palace."
Excellent experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and engaging, and it never felt phony. The food and drink lived up to the hype, and the entertainment was fun too. Wonderful place to relax in a variety of ways and plenty of active options. Easy access to downtown and ferries to Isla Mujeres for a break from your break. Protip: absolutely order a medium-rare steak from the Steakhouse specialty dinner restaurant (and request some surf with your turf).

"Wonderful vacation hotel"
The hotel was wonderful. A beautiful place and wonderful staff. The problem was with Travelocity! Before we left I had read about extra fees for the "athletic facilities". Travelocity sent a note back that I could expect an answer in 48 hrs. They sent a response 10 days later on the last day of our vacation. I highly recommend making your reservation directly thru the hotel or thru another travel provider. I do not intend to use Travelocity again.

"nice place to stay "
I recommend very much for couples with kids or teenagers, because this suits are excellent for that situation, kids can be sleeping in the living room , and the couple be sleeping at the bedroom with fully privacy. But keep in mind then this hotel have no entertainment because it's a time share place. But let me tell this, you will be sleeping very good. I I strongly recommend this place.
