This place costs roughly half the going rate in the neighborhood. It's an older, family-operated property, but it's well maintained and has had clear renovation--my bathroom had new tile and fixtures. I appreciated the plantation-shuttered windows in lieu of curtains, as they shut out more light and sound. The bed was comfortable. The front desk was friendly and efficient. The hotel is a ring of rooms surrounding an open central parking lot. Homeless people do transit the lot, but I didn't notice any panhandling or people loitering on the property. I think this place is a great value--I'll certainly stay there again.

Horrible, horrible neighborhood

It's an older hotel that is centrally located. It's not too bad, but not great. The problem is the neighborhood. If you like homeless shooting up in the parking lot, defecating in the corners and peering into the windows of your car looking for anything of value this is your place. Don't forget the all night fighting in the streets. The area is over-run. There is no way to accurately describe the squalor until you see it for yourself. Not only that, but your personal safety will be in question.

Good location and close to the BART.

Pros: Location and price were a bargain
Cons: It could be moved to a country that provided housing for the homeless
Location: Short walk to Union Square and the big hotels and to the wharf
Super clean room and all the appliances worked. Lots of homeless in the neighborhood, but that is common to most of downtown SF. However, no one bothered when I was walking in the area. My room was freshly painted with HD TV. Microwave and fridge both worked.

Safe, clean, comfortable

The staff were very friendly and accommodating! It was very safe, they had key access only for all entries to rooms which made me feel safe! The room was clean and I especially loved how they had bathtubs! I will definitely recommend and stay at Soma Park Inn again! The only negative was there wasn't a handicapped parking available! Other than that I was very satisfied and pleased with my stay Thank you

Okay, But....

Pros: Location
Let me start with, You get what you pay for. Period. There is a reason this place is under $100 a night. It is on a busy corner with lots of late night traffic, sirens, transit, loud discussions, yelling. arguments, and more. I was there for company business and they had a limit so i stayed here. If it was for me personally, i would pay more and stay another "better" place.

Location: Central San Francisco, but lots of homeless folks outside.
This is an inexpensive hotel in downtown San Francisco. The room was clean but had a whiff of an unpleasant odor. The TV set did not work. I arrived at 1:45 and the clerk was stern that check-in time was 3: reasonable, though a better hotel would have probably given me a room then. The area is surrounded by homeless. So this hotel is what it is: Cheap and well-priced (I got a room for $125), but nothing grand. I'd recommend it for budget travelers who know they are giving up something for the price and don't plan to spend a lot of time in their room.

RATS!!!!

Pros: free parking
Cons: dirty
You get what you pay for! Dirty and worn out. Will never stay there again. Large rat in the exterior stairway. Beds were comfortable and staff was nice. Parking convenient.

WORST PLACE EVER!!!!

My friend and I are from Texas and she came with me on the move up here and we stayted in this hotel because we're only 20 years old and were on a budget since we just came from Texas. The room was horrible, very nasty and poorly taken care of. To top things off the next day when I woke up she was at my car getting a hairband or something out of my car. As soon as she walks in from outside the phone rings and its the hotel guy at the front desk. He casually proceeds to tell her, "Happy New Years! By the way your car just got broken into! Have a nice day!" The man at the front desk didn't bother to help clean the mess, he told us to just "..sweep it into the street and tell the sweepers to come by early.." Not only did his lack of concern escalate the situation but he said they didnt have security cameras installed and I was parking at my own risk. I then asked him to call the cops so I could have an authority figure to speak with and he just flat out said he's not calling the police. So I had to make a scene in the front lobby just for him to call the police, which he did, but it was on me. While I was cleanaing up the glass a had about 20 or 30 homeless people taunting me. People were selling drugs right outside the hotel, and there were countless hookers circling the block. I HOPE NOBODY MAKES THE DECISION TO STAY HERE EVER!! It may be cheap but you're gettin what you pay for buddy, and the ladies are hard to get into that place..
