Everything was going rather well we thought. The room was very nice, the bathroom clean and nicely remodeled. But we didn't find out about the free coffee at the bar until our last morning there. But the killer was on that last morning, I had a hotel clerk print out our boarding passes for us, but they messed up on how much luggage we had. The airlines overcharged us, and I had to argue with three different customer service reps before I received a refund. But other than that, the visit was very nice.

Great location, close enough to the water and transportation, yet just far enough to be away from the crowds. Loved the outdoor seating area, a nice place to sit and relax with or without a glass of wine. Very clean and comfortable accommodations. Would stay there again and highly recommend it.

vocal music blasting in lobby and impossible to sit and relax. no in room coffee. coffee in lobby with waiting in line. slipped on coffee spilled on floor. tiny rooms. internet is a joke.

One-night Stay Impressions

Pros: Location. Comfortable. Courteous staff.
Cons: See above.
Location: The location is great if you want to be a tourist and walk to Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, etc.
Overall, a good experience. There were a few issues, nothing too awful: My room was on the first floor and right off the lobby. The one exterior window looked right onto the patio for the lounge, so I had to keep the blinds drawn at all times for privacy. And, the handle to the toilet kept falling on the floor and I had to pick it up every time I wanted to flush. Biggest problem was the heat/cooling system. The room would go from really chilly to unbearably hot over and over during the night, and though I was up several times to try to adjust the thermostat, I never did resolve that problem. If I'd stayed more than one night I probably would have asked for advice about that. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was good. We got our food promptly but our waiter could have been more attentive, particularly since it wasn't crowded. We had to flag him down several times to bring coffee, the check, etc.

Hotel is nice and remodeled, very clean but the rooms are very, very small and there is not enough drawers and closer space for the stuff even for one person and we were two. Otherwise the location is excellent.

Attractive hotel close to Fisherman's Wharf

Pros: Every staff member we spoke to was professional, polite, & knowledgeable. Our room was clean & quiet. Location was great for walking to see sights.
Cons: Our bed was saggy & tired although we were told the hotel's beds were new. We would have slept better on a firmer mattress. Rooms need coffee makers.
Location: An easy walk to the Alcatraz tour departure pier, Pier 39, & to Lombard St.
Hotel Zoe has a clean, modern design & yet is comfortable & welcoming. Each interaction with every staff member was great from the very helpful front desk staff to the host and waitstaff at the hotel restaurant where we ate dinner every evening of our three day stay. The food there was good, too. But charging the "urban facility fee" separate from the room charge is a deceptive way to increase the cost of a room. Calling the surcharge an "urban facility fee" tries to make it sound as if it's a city-imposed tax, which it is not. If the hotel wants to charge an extra $25 per room per night, then just be straightforward about it & increase the room cost. This practice took the shine off an otherwise good stay. Also not good was the saggy, soft, worn-out feeling bed, & the ridiculous lack of an in-room coffee maker.

The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly.

Pros: Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean.
Cons: Clearer notification about extra charges and lack of views would be nice so we knew what we were getting.
Location: It was convenient to walk to the Warf and Pier 39.
We arrived right at check in time on a Friday afternoon and had to wait about 15 minutes in line to check in. The lobby is very small and the check in desk isn't exactly laid out well to handle very many people. When we pulled up to park we found out that we would have to pay an additional $59 for parking per day. We then were told that the a resort fee was much more than was quoted only a few days earlier when I booked the room. The total stay ended up being over $100 more than what was originally informed. We were given a king sized room as reserved, but the rooms are very small and our view was of a painted brick wall. Only one chair was provided for the small table that was squeezed into the corner of the room and we had to ask where glasses and ice buckets were located (they are in what looks like a dresser that the TV is on). The bed wasn't very comfortable and while we didn't hear a lot of noise from the room next door the noise from the hallway and from doors being shut was very loud and woke us up several times during the night. Oh and the elevators are slow and frightened us and other passengers several times by the "jerkiness" of the movements.
