facility was not well maintained, upgraded room spa was noted working, roof needed repair. outdoor animals and cats roaming inside dinning area. limited food choses. roof leaking in multiple areas, with standing water and limited mosquito control. all family members experienced multiple bites. did not enjoy stay at this facility

When we arrived at the resort and checked in at the lobby, the staff gave us zero explanation on how anything works, they didn’t give us room keys or tell us what our room number even was. We had to ask for that info. We requested a king size bed with an ocean view with our reservation. Upon arrival, our bed had two beds that were just larger than twins, not even doubles. The toilet was broken, the faucets in the bathroom were broken, the mirrors were covered with a black film. The closet doors were broken and hanging off. When we spoke to the front desk they said they had no other king rooms until one of the guests in our party who is ‘circle one’ (vip) complained about our room, and then all of a sudden they had two rooms with king beds that we could view and chose from. The buffets were mediocre at best. The a la carte restaurants were inconsistent. Concierge would only allow you to book into the a la Carte’s one day in advance, and most of the time there was no reservations left. The hotel handed out towel cards that you had to hand over to get towels for the pool, if you lost your towels, you didn’t get your towel cards back and were charged $60 USD to get new towel cards. However, staff would often walk around the pool and collect towels so that guests would have to pay for new towel cards. There were cotes and raccoons running all over the resort, including inside the restaurants and up on tables! I would not recommend this resort to anyone!!

Super underrated, we booked this trip before looking at the reviews...so we didn't really have an option but just to thug it out and see how it goes. Bam, best trip ever. Food was great, staff beyond nice and soo much to do. Beach was as clear as day and much bluer than the beaches beside our resort.

Staff was friendly and available. Know your Spanish. Very limited beach chairs, a la carte too much AC couldn’t stay to eat. Allergies beware at Buffet’s (fish/shelfish) food mixed. Partial ocean view guaranteed given full jungle (closer to most amenities no complaints).Never been happier with how available our room was cleaned (early or late) and fridge was stocked every day. If you like big resorts you’ll enjoy + if you have no food allergies

To start we have stayed at the Grand Pricess last year and the Riu the year before so i a reference of how resort shoud be and what to expect. I was very disappointed with my experience with my family of 4 . We had no hot water for our entire stay luke warm no water flow to be told by managers that how it is or we are working on it what joke. My son and daughter got there rooms switch 3 time because we founded bed bug we took a picture and saved the bug to show the management they did not believe us till we showed them. I got switched twice cause the water issue which was not resolved The food at best was poor and very limited selection ,also if you are vegetarian plan on eating boiled vegetables cause that would be about it. There Circle One VIP program is a con job stay far far away bait and switch. Over promise and under delivery disappointed my brother in-law realize and losted $1000.00 US to cancel cause of some fine print .Program is like a time share trickery. Entertainment was a karaoke machine that' it in a run down lounge with the only 3 bars and one is the VIP Circle One bar which closes early. You want to sit on a lounger forget it at best they had about 75 and half for the Circle One members witch also applies to the beach huts and beach itself. Restaurants and one main place and it was small and plumbing in those places where awfully three times the women' bathroom was backed up, the specialty restaurant the managers decide which ones are open or closed

We were booked for a 10 day stay to attend a wedding. On arrival, there was water flooded on the floor of our room as we opened the door. It dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom and from down the wall behind our bathroom mirror. It had run out into our main living area. We told the front desk and they came to look at it and put towels on the floor and the waste paper basket in the middle of the bathroom to catch the dripping water!!?? This continued throughout our stay with 2-3 workers coming to look at the damage and proceed to do nothing. Towards the end of our stay on night 8, the actual ceiling “paper” was falling off and onto the floor of our bathroom and water continued to flow from behind our mirror, over the bathroom counter and onto the floor. With 1 day & night remaining on our 10 day stay, they offered to move us to a different room but at that point, it was more of a hassle collecting and moving all of our clothing etc. It would have been nice to be offered a new room on the 1st evening of our complaint before we unpacked. The servers at the resort were hard workers but the resort on a whole needs major renovations all over. I’m sure it may have been beautiful 20 years ago but it is very lacking and NO WAY a 4 star resort. 1-2 star max. Food was bland and the selection quite poor. To top of all off, of the 40 or so people attending the resort for the wedding we were all attending, 3-4 got sick from the food during their stay. Not a great ratio.

The staff was wonderful throughout the property! Pool was kept extremely clean. Food was very good. However, the rooms and buildings are in need of renovations and there was no hot water on the property = only cold showers. :(

The food is terrible, water damage in many room's, housekeeping starts their daily rounds at 0830 waking you every morning so good luck sleeping in on vacation, bar lines take up to 45 minutes to get a drink. Overall, not a great experience. Would not recommend.

It all was wonderful. However we did have some septic problems and if you want to get a chair at the beach you better get there at 8. I had both of my credit cards gotten the one day i left the resort. Therefore no credit cards to get home and no one likes to take cash.

Love the staff! Very very helpful. Food was actually pretty good! Other resorts i have been to were not good, so well done! Very clean rooms. Only thing that bothered me was the cold showers, but thats expected in Mexico. I am a Canadian and am a fussy person 😆 seriously though it was cold but it did not make my experience bad, it was a wonderful holiday. We love Blue Bay Esmeralda! Thank you to all staff!!

My room was very clean every day. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Only I didn’t like too many local people on weekends because they didn’t keep property clean and safe. During the week it was very peaceful and comfortable atmosphere in the resort.

The hotel is in very poor condition and hasn’t been repaired. The breakfasts were exactly the same during the seven days we stayed there. I don’t understand how this hotel still has a five-star rating. The towels provided for the pool are torn, as are the volleyballs they lend you to play with. I would rate this hotel three stars. So if you’re planning to stay here, keep in mind that it’s not truly a five-star hotel. I hope this helps

Since being bought out it’s really gone down hill. Was so amazing two years ago but sadly new management is cutting everything to save money. Food is all catered to the bus loads of locals that they give day passes too that overwhelmed the resort. They give locals priority and pass over tourists. Disappointed and won’t be returning.
