I am visiting Jacksonville Mayo Clinic a few times a year. I have stayed in many hotels within 5-10 minutes of driving. But this one meets all my expectations of service, comfort, and cleanliness. It is an excellent location, next to Publix and many restaurants. For my next trip, I will stay only here.

The upkeep of the facility is to be desired. I went to start the shower, and the bath faucet almost came off the wall. There was obvious water leak marks on the ceiling above the tub, and water damage to the shelf in the bathroom. The AC was unstoppable. The fan kept going and groaning all night. And, I found the bed covers dusty. Shelving in the cabinet was also ripped out. The last time we stayed there in another room, it was a way better experience. It was booked thru reward points and not Expedia. Don't know if that was the difference.

When we got to the hotel no attendant was there to check us in. I had to find him. He stated that the reservation was not entered correctly. He was nice but we flew up in the middle of the night to see our loved one who died twice and miraculously survived. We were tired and overwhelmed. It was not the best welcome to a hotel.

Non-working elevator
When we got there, one of the elevators was not working, and the next morning, we were told that neither was working. It's possible that it was repaired later in the day, but since we were on the second floor, we walked up and down the stairs. The fire alarm awoke us at 5:30 on our last morning, so we evacuated and spent about an hour outside while the fire dept. checked out the building. We never smelled smoke or saw flames, but water poured into the lobby, so we assume one of the guests activated a sprinkler head. The staff was polite and helpful and did all they could to get us back to our rooms as soon as possible.

Air conditioner was so loud it kept us up all night. Room got very warm, had to readjust the thermostat to 65 to cool the room down. Overall, lousy nights sleep and thats 2hat we needed,

We found multiple baby spiders on our nightstand each night, otherwise room was clean. There was a fire on the third floor the morning of checkout. Had to lug our stuff down 5 flights of stairs… took four trips. Breakfast was decent, but very hectic in the breakfast area.

Clean but worn out
The staff was great - very friendly and helpful. Things like bedding and towels were clean enough - not excellent, but not disgusting. However, the overall condition of the rooms was just one of a place that hasn't been well kept-up - there was a hole in the wall of the shower, the shower floor had markings from paint or something that had been left on it. The elevators alternated in and out of service, the ice coming out of the ice maker had rust in it, the doors were noisy and slammed easily. Nothing to make you feel disgusted, but just beginning to show signs of age that have not been well-kept.

Close to the friends and event I traveled to see. Room set up nicely. Bathroom was actually by the window/ bed instead of the door. Breakfast the usual selection that I appreciate and expect. I did not use the pool this time but like that the hours started at 6 am
