Beautiful hotel and flawless service. Eden is extremely expensive but a very elegant experience. Primrose was too busy to serve us even though they had empty tables. That was disappointing.

"Nice Boutique Hotel"
I booked a cheap room in the hotel - small room with a king bed on the mountain side, i.e. view of the parking lot rather than the mountains. There are many rooms that are nicer, but I went on a budget. The first surprise was that the hotel has no elevator and my room was on the second floor. The woman who checked me in got help for me to lug all of my ski gear and suitcases up the stairs, and she personally helped carry some stuff. The room was clean and nicely decorated, but the lighting was a bit weak. One corner was set up with a chair and small log table which would have been an excellent place to sit and read except the lamp was far too dim to read by. The room was above the restaurant, so I could hear faint music at times, but it wasn't too bad. The bed was comfortable to me, with plenty of pillows. The lobby and lower hallways were nicely decorated. The parking lot and road leading in were covered with ice, common conditions in the Banff area in winter.

"Nice hotel for price"
It wasn't the most lavish hotel I've stayed at, but for the price the room was clean and it was walkable distance to a lot of downtown Banff. They had free bikes for guest use which was nice and the staff behind the desk had great hike recommendations.

"The staff made us feel very welcome."
We went to Banff for our 40th anniversary and wanted a special weekend. The staff made sure that we had a very special room with a beautiful view. The room was gorgeous and very clean. The free breakfast was fresh and delicious with quite a variety to choose from. Even the housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only negative I can think of, was that the hotel is located on a busy street and can be noisy at night. Our solution was to close the window and put on the air conditioner.

"Simple accommodations in Banff"
Hotel is fine - a little older looking, but clean and quiet. It's a few blocks from the downtown action, but that makes it quiet. Parking is a little cramped, but sufficient. We spend most of the time out and about, so this was fine for our needs.

"Fathers Day Weekend "
For once the weather was good, not the best but at least it didn't rain every day. Douglas Fir is a great place to stay. Great views, close to town, has a grocery store near by. We will stay there again.

Hotel was better then expected! Room had lots of space for 4 people and it was very clean. Walking distance to all the restaurants and shops in Banff. The only thing was that the room smelled a little funny (like stinky feet) but other then that it was wonderful! I would definitely come back at stay here again!

"Good Banff hotel stay and location."
This hotel is located along Banff Ave along what I might call 'hotel row'. It is within walking distance of downtown Banff. Hotel staff was very helpful in assisting us in getting our bearings. The lobby projects a rugged outdoor feel. Free parking is an added plus. The lone ice machine is by the parking area, in the basement. Staff directed us to the Tourist Info Centre, where we met a gentleman who got us the correct admission fees for the surrounding national parks, provided us the best locations to visit in the parks, correctly recommended restaurants (Masalas, Salt Lick). Chili's restaurant for continental breakfast was OK. I hope you like mostly bread stuffs, there was not opportunity to upgrade. It's also a bit dark and noisy in the breakfast area. Our room was okay. I might say a bit modern but carpets needed cleaning. Queen bed. No extra blanket. Slightly worn couch. Smallish bathroom. No exhaust vent for steaming up the bathroom. WiFi and data port available for internet access. Basic cable TV channels. A spa-like hot springs area in the basement, so bring your swimsuit. Small amenities in the room. ie soap, shampoo, etc.
